Rubio's WBC Interim belt at stake, Golovkin can become Cotto's mandatory.

Fans of both GGG and Cotto, question- do you actually want to see them fight. I know I don't.

 

I don't completely rule Cotto out of taking the fight (he's never ducked anyone before) but he'd get dismantled. GGG is just too strong at 160. I think Cotto would be more willing to take it than his team.

I do. I really like Cotto, but if he plans on staying at 160 he has to fight him, even if it is a mismatch.
Boxing itself comes before favoritism, and if one guy holds the title and the other one is considered the best there should be a fight to determine the winner. I also wanted to see the Golovkin vs Maravilla fight although I knew he was on the slide and probably take a beating. Now we can only imagine what would have happened seeing Martinez like that against Cotto.

 

Odd. The only similar thing I can remember is when Ward (WBA champion) v Dirrell in Super 6 was going to be for vacant WBC title too after Kessler beat Froch but quit due to injury.

After Dirrell quit the tournament, Froch petitioned for his fight with Abraham to be the vacant title.
