He is a very good fighter just short of top class, imo. Certainly he can still pick up titles, he is still top 10 in his division, probably top 5.
Boom, 24 hours, what's up? :hey Crazy in contrast with Alvarez vs. Trout, huh? Night and day. People say "look at their respective TKO10s of Angulo" to get an idea of who should be favored between them - well, just as informative (at least, no less) are their respective UD12s over Trout. :nod
Canela beat Trout clearly. All Trout did was throw pitty pat and range finding jabs. You can't reward that BS.
And won every round but the third. One bad round but dominated the rest and dropped Dawson. Also the fight could have arguably been stopped.
Nothing was clear about that fight. The odds were staked against Trout that night and I thought the fight could have been a draw. 3 officials were picked by the WBC. Outside of the knockout, there was no way Trout can win that fight. The open scoring changed the complexion of the fight and forced Trout to get reckless and open up. I had the fight 7-5 for Trout with 1 KD by Canelo. That fight could have easily gone the other way, but it was NEVER going to be Trout's decision. Golden Boy, Showtime and the WBC made sure Canelo won that fight.
