The way Floyd was able to Read Hatton

Pacquaio is difficult to read?

Fast enough that many can't adjust to him, of course - but difficult to read?

 

Apart from JMM who has read him ?

 

That was just sheer class.

Got hit with two bombs, tied him up, was able to recover.. controlled the remainder of the round.

Then completely took away that shot from Mosley's arsenal.

 

Hatton winds up his punches so far back and side wide that it would be really hard not to counter him if you had any speed/

 

I am quite amused by the fact that five of the first six replies are dissing Floyd Mayweather and trying to make a joke about how he can't read yet involve at least one grammatical error within said post.

Okay, back to reading the topic in order to reply to the post instead of those guys.

There could have been NO referee in the ring that night and Mayweather would have still won!

 

Okay well I must say that particular left hook was, indeed, his career defining punch though when it comes to overall use I would say Floyd Mayweather's lead right straight is his defining punch.

As for Mayweather vs Hatton? Hatton fought his heart out, gave a good account of himself and showed that he had a few neat game plan tricks up his sleeve that worked very well against Floyd. Cortez DID sorta **** up the fight though I certainly doubt he was intentionally helping Floyd or intentionally hurting Hatton. Cortez just simply did as Cortez does and did a bad job. Does it change the fight if Hatton gets to stay on the inside? Doubtful. Mayweather was able to hurt Hatton eventually with his combinations and body punches. Mayweather also has his own array of dirty inside tricks to combat Hatton.

Still, though. Ricky made Floyd very uncomfortable for a few rounds. He landed several nice left hand shots and showed an understanding for how to hit Floyd with his left numerous times. He ended up always smothering himself (allowing Cortez to break them) and could never get a body attack going on the inside. He also proved himself to be, in my opinion, literally just as fast as Floyd. Floyd was never able to keep Hatton off of him. Mayweather is just more fluid and skilled than Hatton - but Hatton matched him for pure speed. It was always telling to me that Hatton was glued to Floyd all night and able to land shots from the outside before Mayweather could react to them yet Pacquiao when pressed to the ropes EASILY got off of them before Hatton could get there and also clearly could see Ricky's shots coming. I think Pacquiao is clearly faster than Floyd Mayweather as far as pure athleticism goes.

Pac-JMM4 was not as one sided as Pac-Hatton. Pac was even leading on the scorecards when he was stopped.

 

So Cortez should have allowed to do his hug and punch, but Floyd should have not been allowing elbows?

You argument is just ridiculous, Hatton had absolutely nothing on Mayweather, whichever way they fought, outside, mid range or inside. It's about time to face the facts.

 

As a neutral I think Cortez was an absolute disgrace that night.

Regardless of who you think would've won with a proper ref, Cortez was still abysmal and ruined the fight.

Hatton's gameplan went out the window when Cortez wouldn't let them engage up-close, the gameplan was about side-stepping out of the clinches and throwing a short left jab-angled left hook combination or hybrid left uppercut to the solar plexus, which may've worked if Cortez allowed it.

Pac and Floyd are not on the same level:deal
