Porter back on map with a win, measuring stick for Thurman if he does better than Brook and puts him instantly up there for a world title.

Better than both fighting bums for a year first.

That will be a bad move for team Porter,,... They could end up having 2 loss in a row,,... What team Porter needs now is to have bounce back fight to gain back his confidence,,... You know, its hard to take your first loss,,...

Wish boxing would return to old days where this happened frequently... Al Haymon is ruining boxing.

No way Porter gets in with someone like Thurman off the back of the Brook loss.

Shawn Porter needs to be kept away from the top guys. I, personally, never rated him very high though the win over Alexander was legit and while enjoying a huge stylistic advantage he still managed to turn my head with his destruction of Paulie Malignaggi. There is a problem for Porter, though. As his stock rose his skill set did not. Now is not the time to keep throwing Porter to lions. He needs to be fighting some easy fights for a year or two while putting in a LOT of work at the gym trying to improve.

Now, understand what I mean by these fights being easy. I think each fight needs to bring SOMEthing to the table but I would be careful not to bring TOO much all at once. For instance, Luis Collar is still a solid Welterweight and not at all an out and out "easy" fight. For Shawn Porter though, he is perfect. He brings a load of toughness with just the right mix of counterpunching skills and willingness to brawl. Porter can go into this fight knowing what he is up against. Porter can train exclusively on working on defense and not getting counterpunched on the way in. Collazo will last rounds so Porter gets a solid 10 rounds of putting his work to practice. If he passes it? Then in the future Shawn Porter may start coming in behind a jab or maybe learning to not lunge SO aggressively that he overshoots a target that doesn't try to backtrack away from him when he attacks. Give him two years to realize there are many other things in boxing than running forward and swinging. He has speed, tenacity, chin, stamina and power and/or strength (unsure) - that's only a base. He needs to start learning how to actually box now.

Porter is coming off a loss, one or two build up fights would be a better decision to get him back on the map. Thurman should fight other top rated fighters in the division or one of the champions. Only a ****** would think Thurman would be a good choice for Porter when he's coming off a loss.

Christ, I don't want to see porter vs anyone. Most unskilled bonehead I ever seen at the world level. Still baffled by how he beat Alexander.
