Chris Algieri, Manny Pacquiao, and Zou Shiming are hanging out in the middle of the ring for a group photo op.

 

Petalcorin is posing with the Australian flag.

 

Raul Caiz Sr. calls both combatants to center ring for their final instructions. They don't make eye contact, both staring at their feet until the perfunctory glove touch.

 

Round 1

Petalcorin is jabbing in on Tello with his right, keeping his feet shoulder width apart, glued in place as he lunges with no extra step. Tello is thus able to simply lean back and make him miss. Lots of ducking and rolling by Tello as Petalcorin reaches in with the right jab. Tello comes up with a left hook and misses. Petalcorin backs Tello across the Venetian logo with a pair of straight lefts as Tello falls into a drawn-away crouch. Tello keeps his knees bent deeply, pointing outward to either side, creating a low solid base from which he pops up jabs and springs up with rights. Tello now switches to southpaw and circles, throwing clusters of right jabs followed by slapping overhand lefts at Petalcorin, somewhat bewildering him. Petalcorin is blocking and waiting his turn, and dropping in lefts as Tello scurries out in his leaning crouch.

Round 2

Petalcorin is finding Tello's nose repeatedly with the right jab even as Tello sits low and jerks back. Tello rocks to either side to slip the jab but Petalcorin is able to adjust his aim on the fly and score within 1 or 2 attempts, keeping the right jab flowing enough to make Tello retreat. Tello is mirroring Petalcorin in the lefty stance again, bending far over with his right arm by his thigh and left glove up by his chin, evoking a southpaw Mayweather. Tello is ducking and waving his upper body around to slip Petalcorin's jabs effectively but not throwing much back, just a few right jabs of his own flicked up from the hip. Tello attempts a check hook as Petalcorin steps in on him with a jab but mistimes and stumbles off balance despite partially landing on the shoulder and cheek of Petalcorin. Tello is caught with a short flurry as he regains his footing.

Tello is losing but not by a landslide, and is making this interesting with his tactical choices.

 

Round 3

Petalcorin is doubling his jab and hurling in thunderbolt lefts, barely ducked by Tello and just cropping his hair. Tello remains in a very low crouch and in southpaw configuration. Tello squats extra low to propel himself and jumps up with a quick 1-2 into Petalcorin's guard before receding back into his crouch on the outside, usually leaning deeply over to one side in anticipation of Petalcorin's retaliatory jabs or flurries. Petalcorin is trying some more varied footwork now, taking long lateral steps around Tello and firing from odd angles with jabs and left crosses into the side of the head. Tello whirls to face him and throws well-bucket hooks from his hips clambering up the length of Petalcorin's body, but Petalcorin is able to weave through and take advantage of his superior positioning, actually looking at his target instead of winging blindly as Tello must.
