there is nothing to clean out at 160...the fact Rubio is considered a quality opponent proves as much.

Cotto, Canelo, Quillin, Murray, Martinez, Korobov, Sturm, Lemieux, Mora, N'Dam...plenty there.

Golovkin is a level above all these fighters but he still has to get it done.

    Quillan can't even beat Sturm.

By shooting down the rest all you have done is demonstrated that you do think Rubio is a solider challenger from the available pool at middleweight.

So hush with your bellyaching. :)

Who is building Rubio up to make GGG look good?

If you are referring to me, you can **** off. I don't give two shits about making Golovkin look good. I said in my OP I was neutral on GGG - and you're really not in a position to question my reputation where neutrality is concerned, Mr. Noob. I've respected and enjoyed watching El Veneno for a long time before Golovkin ever came around, so it bothers me to see him called a bum or an unacceptable challenger for any titlist after he put in so much yeoman's work to stay ranked and in the mix for this long. He is never going to crack anyone's p4p list and he may very well never hold a legit world title belt in his career (interim aside) but anyone following the upper echelon of the middleweight scene in the last ten years knows Rubio has, quietly, been a reliable cornerstone of it and he's a more than decent fighter & contender (if not quite championship quality, unless he were to luck out and happen to run into a paper titlist he could tear apart) by any measure, in any era.

Well, that's a load off. I've spent these whole last five years wondering if you had me on your Ignore list!

Only if you're one of these people who writes fighters off after one loss.

Canelo fights at MW, and he is one. Cotto is MW champion.

IMO Rubio and Murray are 2 top mw contenders. If the Geale fight would have not happened, one of these 2 guys (Rubio / Murray) were the fighters that I'd have liked to see vs GGG. But now I'm glad that GGG is gonna fight Rubio. I really think Rubio and Murray have real chances to beat Quillin, Cotto or Soliman.

You do realise Murray has never beaten a world-level opponent. Not one. Ever. In most of his fights, even against mediocre opposition, he has looked quite poor.
Rubio has a long track record against top-flight middleweights.

It is acceptable. Don't see how or why rubio is the wbc number one contender, well I do he is mexican. He certainly was a top contender during the pavlik, lemieux, chavez period. Since the Chavez fight he has not lost and hasn't proven himself not to be a top level middleweight. At the same time he has beaten absolutely nobody recently to prove that he is in fact a top middleweight. Rubio is a bit of a question mark, if nothing else he may force Golovkin to go rounds and could make Golovkin cotto's mandatory so it I cant complain much
