I don't have a problem with people giving credit for Hopkins beating Pavlik, it's the notion that he completely ruined him and turned him into a drunk that Hopkins fans love to perpetuate when in actual fact Pavlik had been hitting the bottle hard for a long time.

And Pavlik was knocking everybody out at 160, at a weight where the vast majority of his opponents were naturally smaller than him. Again, his size and power were his main strengths down at that weight. But it wouldn't have made any difference against Hopkins regardless because he was just a better fighter.

FTR, Hopkins was 5lbs heavier than Pavlik when they fought each other.

And I'm not in the least bit butt-hurt. Managed to get over your hero Hopkins losing to a white boy yet? You thought about going to have some therapy for that? lol

Ahhh now I see why you're so burthhurt.
 You don't want to give Hop credit because he is black and your hero could only manage a split decision robbery over him. It pisses you off that no one gives a **** about him and his split gift over a 43 year old.

Christ even by your abysmally low standards that's poor. How the f*ck did you manage to come to that conclusion, Farrakhan? lol. Yeah, you nailed it bang on there. :patsch

Was Pavlik hitting the bottle hard and getting himself into trouble with the law long before he ran into Hopkins, yes or no? So this notion that Hopkins turned him into a drunk is false, no?

There were posters from Youngstown on here who voiced their concerns about his drinking habits long before he fought Hopkins. They said it wasn't exactly uncommon to see him staggering around from bar to bar as drunk as a skunk.

The thing Hopkins is best at ruining is the fight as a spectacle for the fans. lol.

I think Froch would have beaten him, he's an aggressive come forward fighter and would defeat Hopkins the same way that Chad Dawson did. I'm a fan of Bhop's and fully appreciate the (albeit slightly-engineered) history-making, but he cannot really deal with pressure fighters who throw a large volume of punches because he can't slow the bout down and smother his opponents' work effectively. I slightly worry for Hopkins against Kovalev because he's a big puncher but hopefully he'll be too crude and easily outsmarted...

managed to get over a 43 year old losing a fight????

that's like laughing with glee -"managed to get over your granddad getting beaten up yet by a younger man"

that statement would be a joke for any other fight..but because 'calzaghe' beating him (and barely), its somehow special for you.

You see that right there tells me you DKSAB and don't know anything about Hopkins.
First of all you don't beat Hopkins by putting pressure on, that plays right into his game plan.
Secondly, Froch fights nothing like Dawson. He's neither as good of a boxer as Dawson, no as athletic like Dawson.:patsch
Third, Froch can not rough up Hopkins. Hopkins is not Andre Dirrell. Watch the 5th round of Ward fight to see what will happen to Froch if he ever decides to go that routh.
Fourth, Dawson did not beat Hopkins by putting pressure on him. Did you even watch the fight, or you watch some youtube clips and assumed you know what happened in the fight.:nut

if we're talking about the Hopkins of about 6 years ago, then i agree. he'd also beat Ward.

but if we're talking about the Hopkins of now, then he doesn't beat Kessler, Froch or Ward. hell, even Abraham has a damn good chance of beating him. Abraham is shut down when they're really active against him. with Hopkins low output, that would suit Arthur down to the ground.

Bernard's foot speed isn't as fast as those two. not even close.

Froch could walk Bernard down and push him for the full twelve which Bernard will find difficult, or Carl can take centre ring and not allow Bernard the opportunity of the counter attack while on the move.

Pascal didn't follow Bernard around, and he made it close. can't see Bernard winning at all.

Bernard of 6 years ago, yes. but not this version.
