Just figured I'd provide some fodder for the Pacquiao fans to jump in on. What are your thoughts? IS this a tougher fight than Vegas thinks? Odds are pretty long against Algieri (but in all fairness so were the odds for his last 2 fights). He is making a career of upsetting heavy favorites thus far. Algieri has been picked as the "opponent" now in all 3 fights in 2014 and so far is 2-0...he was brought in as the sacrificial lamb by ESPN to build up Emmanuel Taylor (who HBO wanted to fight Provodnikov) and won that and was then brought in as sacrificial lamb for Provo and won that and is now the sacrificial lamb for Pacquiao. But apparently somebody forgot to give Algieri the memo because he is extremely confident that he wins this fight. :think says not only will be win the fight but that he will dominate Manny Pacquiao.:rofl:-patsch .....BUT what IF he wins???:shock::shock: http://youtu.be/NeqSal9uo8Q
IF he wins (he won't), we'll know that Pacquiao is completely shot to **** and Algieri is much better than was expected. That doesn't say much about him though, as expectations are that he's gonna get smacked around and KTFO.
Manny musnt underestimate him The kid can box his confidence is high. Whats he got to lose? I think he'll give Manny a better fight than most expect
Chris did not dominate Ruslan, so how is he going to dominate a faster, harder hitting more complete boxer who is a couple levels above Ruslan? Ruslan does not even feint. But Chris's ability to get up off the canvas is impressive. I'm pretty sure we're going to see it tested here.
This shows that Chris has complete understanding that he has to dominate to get the decision, and I think he has a good chance of doing exactly that.
algieri has a big lump thick jab and has fast hands it will be a interesting fight can pacman beat anther young champ?
The Febuary 14th Taylor vs. Algieri ESPN event's promoter Joe DeGuardia said HBO wanted Taylor vs Provodnikov and would use his win over an unbeaten Algieri to promote Taylor for Provodnikov fight...but Algieri winning enabled him to jump into Taylor's place for HBO event vs Provo
I don't think he earned it, I haven't scored the Provo fight but it looked to me like he was winning, Algieri that is. He hasn't fought on a high level yet, I think the only reason he was chosen is because TR stable is dry at welter. And they can make whatever offer they want and he has to accept. Plus, he's not a dangerous opponent at all.
