Like lightsout said, it's immensely hard dealing with the fan boys, and especially if they're fans of boxers who you feel very strongly are trash. Don't let that deter you though, it's an absolutely amazing sport once you understand the styles, strategies, size differences, skill level's. And how those all mix match and mesh to give endless entertainment in a sport that only involves four different punches. You will be floored by the amount of depth provided by the sport with a very minimal amount of components...two participants, who are only allowed to punch. Simple rules to learn, with a life time of understanding to be had.

Guys, he isn't asking for advice on who he should root for or discuss things with.

He had a specific question about purse bids.

I started taking 1 boxing class a week about a year and a half ago, and the trainer that teaches the class is a fan of James Toney and he would talk about how if James was smart he would have been the greatest boxer ever. So i started watching James Toney youtube clips which spread to other fighters.

I say you gotta watch Prince Naseem highlights, don't watch him talk but, he's got some of the coolest movements, unique punching style, and great KO's. One of the most entertaining guys in the ring aside from the obvious Mike Tyson.

I'm in the same boat as you mate. I liked Boxing when I was younger, particularly Nigel Benn and have got interested in it again recently, there's loads of terminology I don't understand though, like ' sitting on punches' and Groves described himself as throwing from ' the wrong side if the line' does anyone have advice about a book or the like that helped them to get to know the terminology? I love James Toney btw.

I watched Calzaghe v Lacey for the first time recently and I think it's incredible. I genuinely felt sorry for Lacey in the end. Seemed like a career ending beating
