According to Garcia: - double jabs - better conditioning - more straight right hands instead of looping one's. I think that this is excellent advice. I expect Floyd to make major adjustments but Maidana will also come better prepared. If Floyd's has lost his legs as Roach alleges, he could be in trouble for the rematch. However, I am not sure at all that is the case .Expect once again a competitive fight.
his jab was suprisingly successful.. that alone showed me that floyd had slipped but theres no denying maidana has improved alot under garcia maidana just needs to be prepared for a different floyd more then anything else. i see alot more movement and both fighters not getting away with as much fouling
Here's Maidana's secret and finely tuned gameplan; casually it's the same from his first amateur match, and there are rumors it won't change until he'll lace his gloves up. -Walk straight to your opponent dragging your feet on the canvas; -Launch your sloppy slapped punches like a flapping bird; -If attacked, stop the first 2 or 3 punches with your face, then make a surprised face and lift your gloves to the side of your head, and wait there; -After your oppoenent has finished his combo, wait for him to walk outside your reach and then unbalance yourself toward swinging a wild counterpunch to thin air; this kills the air; -If your opponent decides to take rest on the ropes, or you casually walk to him in a corner, go full ****** and windmill furiously on his sides, arms, and shoulders, but be careful of never using straight punches or you could hit his head. This would be boring.
Yep. Maidana has to double jab, get floyd to the ropes and bang the body. The double jab is a key weapon for the rematch.
Double jab against one of the fastest fighters on the planet? Good luck with not getting countered over and over again. Especially after 5-6 rounds when he is tired you really think the double jab will land on Floyd? He will be lucky to land it successfully in the early rounds. Maidanas best option is to swarm him again and **** him up, Floyd may actually be slipping.
It is common boxing knowledge, it is easier to counter one jab, you throw a quick double jab if you do not want to get countered. It does not matter if the double jab lands or not, it will push Floyd to the ropes, where he is not very active or effective. As for swarming Floyd, you better not do that because then you will get countered to deat. You got to use the jab against Floyd,
Maidana fought the best fight he could against Floyd first time around and lost by a significant UD margin. He is a limited fighter coming up against one of the best boxers in history. He needs to have something major to be able to unsettle the odds, as far as Maidana is concerned, he has no significant advantages over Floyd to make the difference. Most pointless rematch that could happen. Only reason Floyd took it was to beat him even more convincingly.
I see your point and you may be right. However, although you rightly point out that Maidana is limited, styles make fights. For Floyd to be dominant against Maidana, he would have to move a lot. However, at age 37 he does not seem to be able to do it anymore.
Straighten the right hand Hope his conditioning allows him to drive that high pace for atleast 7 rounds... What I will highlight is: THEY MUST HURT FLOYD No matter if Maidana fights the fight of his life in the best condition of his life pulling off an amazing gameplan HE STILL must have Floyd hurt at some point IF NOT dropping him at some point. The right hand is how they think they can do it.
Personally I think if Maidana is going to have any success its that freaky left hook he delivered on Broner in round 2. he catches Floyd with that shot I dont care what gloves hes wearing its going to do something
He's going to perform the same way he did the first fight. Garcia can't and won't change Maidana in one training camp.
