    Farhood is pretty good. Nice pick. The only thing about him is that his voice isn't really suited for television, being quite high and whiny sounding. But he knows his stuff.

    Of the choices in the poll...Al Bernstein for me. Old-school guy and with a great voice for tv.

    Bernstein or Lampley are the good, safe choices. They both have extensive experience broadcasting and bring completely different things to the table as far as their broadcasts. I've enjoyed watching/hearing both of them for years.

    there all good, different qualities just need to get the right blend, there usually on point as a whole even when one or two of them kinda stray off

    Best ring announcer is Jimmy Lennon jr without a doubt Mr Perfection
    Best commentator in that list is still Larry Merchant followed by Bernstein

    CJ, the question was not "who's the best RING announcer?" The question is " Who is the best ANNOUNCER?"

    According to Webster's dictionary, an "announcer" is "a person who describes a sports event for television or radio." Like for instance a Howard Cosell, or a Jim Lampley. An "announcer" however would not be someone who introduces the fighters, like a Jimmy Lennon - those guys are called "RING ANNOUNCERS!"

    Yes, guys like Lampley and Cosell, are also referred to as "commentators," but - that doesn't mean they are exclusively referred to as "commentators." For example, some say sofa, some say couch, but that doesn't mean that one of the two terms is wrong. They can both be correct!

    Sorry for giving you grief, but this is like the 10th reply where I've been corrected where no correction was necessary...::?

    Great pic. John Garfield used to always talk about Larry's days as a standout NYC highschool football player. They were contemporaries who had a lot in common and he always defended Larry around here.
