If Maidana wins, is he the defacto #1 P4P fighter in the world?

    Yes, it wouldn't mean jack.

Beating Mayweather/Wlad now would be as much of an achievement as when Joey Archer beat SRR. :deal

Or when Marciano beat Moore/Charles/Walcott. All old men when Marciano got to them.

This. And only this. Only welterweights that could beat Floyd and become #1 are Pacquiao, Bradley, & Marquez. Thurman or Brook would be top 5. Maidana and Khan would be top 10.

  3. Exactly. I think so because Wlad hasn't taken a real beating since Lennox. He has cruised by on stamina, the jab, and flabby competition.:thumbsup

Well that's a bit of a different situation, if you indeed mean what I understand you to mean.

Should he dethrone Klitschko then Wilder does - even with virtually nothing else on his résumé - become the #1 HW. Maidana too would become the #1 WW if he dethroned Mayweather, just for having done so.

It's p4p where their rankings shouldn't be automatically bumped all the way up the line on the basis of a single victory, because no single victory in any weight should really trump what all the guys ahead of you p4p have done.

Pacquiao will probably retire in the next couple of years, and Ward is effectively retired as well.

    Maybe Roman Gonzalez?

Depends how impressive Chino looks at beating Floyd and if Floyd ages over night or how shot he looks.
