Nobody believes maidana has a chance here and the undercard is terrible!

TV Publica is broadcasting the fight for free, so I'll be watching it in Spanish.

That's what they said about the first one and the outcome was still up in the air going into the championship rounds. I would seriously consider it if it was the same price as a standard PPV but the extra dough is the dealbreaker for me.

Yes, they could have put on a better undercard since Haymon managed many good fighters.

Going to the theater...I guess that constitutes "buying it". I haven't tried that yet, for a fight. But, I didn't want to pay the full price for it this time.

nope first Mayweather fight I have missed in a while. The bad undercard and Maidana not being able to wear the gloves he wants helped me make that decision.

  10. I have debated the last few days whether or not to buy this PPV

As a general habit, I typically buy all the major PPVs, some of the second tier PPVs, and occasionally I will go to an event live. I love boxing and I love big fights.

I would not call myself a Floyd Mayweather "fan", but I’m an admirer of his boxing skills. I have purchased all of his PPVs for the last several years, sometimes amazed at his domination (JMM/Shane Mosley), sometimes surprised at what an opponent I thought was overmatched could do (Maidana/Cotto), sometimes disappointed by the opponent’s unwillingness to go for broke (Canelo), sometimes appalled at his antics (Ortiz), and almost always hoping someone has the chops to be very competitive or even defeat him. Maidana is the only guy in recent years that has looked like he had a real shot at winning, which I was shocked by as it was happening. I want to watch the rematch.

But Mayweather’s attitude and antics in recent times have been such a turnoff for me that’s it’s to the point where I am seriously considering not purchasing this fight, which used to be an automatic decision. His Ray Rice comments, his posting of his ex-bf’s ultrasound, his domestic abuse record – it’s all just left a very bad taste in my mouth. Mayweather loves to talk about how his "persona" makes you pay up in the hopes to see him lose, but I’m actually at the point where it’s making me not want to spend the money. His marketing has worked backwards for me.

That said, I’m also not sure why NOW is the time for me to feel this way so strongly. He’s been an ******* for years. I could have stopped buying his PPVs when he want on his racist Ustream rant, or when he had successfully pushed back his jail time to fight Cotto. But I also suppose, like any bad habit, one ultimately has to draw a line somewhere, and this might be the line for me.

This is a sort of maddening conundrum that many face when they are a fan of the athleticism/art but not the athlete/artist. Do I watch this Roman Polanski or Woody Allen film? Do I pay to go see Jason Kidd play? But at the same time, these moral decisions are everywhere, and we typically ignore them. Perhaps we hate sweatshops, but still buy Apple or Nike products. Perhaps we are mad as hell about the BP gulf coast spill, but then fill up at a BP gas station. I don’t know how we should choose to be active in certain cases, and then be completely indifferent in others. If you made every buying decision a moral one, you couldn’t live in the modern world as it’s constructed. But if you ignored every buying decision’s moral implications, you might not be able to live with yourself either.

    I’m still undecided.

I'm not gonna pay for this blatant money grab by TMT. No reason it should be priced through the roof with such poor undercard matches.
