You're underestimating the effect. Even Floyd's 70% power body shots help his overall game. It's not just used to debilitate but to also keep the opponent guessing. I think Maidana was more worried about Floyd's pot shots to the body then the head.

I really think body shots can slow down boxers. This is simply base on the extreme interruption of your breathing and thus oxygen in take that a good body shot can cause. Imagine running a 3 minute course and something pauses your breathing 4 or 5 times, you will feel more tire covering the same distance at the end of the course and even more tire if you do this 12 times with 1 minute rest.

You are new to the sport or you are baiting the message board to brow beat you for your obvious lack of knowledge. Body shots without question pay off.....there are risks for those few who commit to a strong body attack but if they have a solid beard or are savvy enough to avoid being knocked out. .......those fighters usually grind out a stoppage or slows their opposition down in the later rounds to where their opponents are gassed.

Body shots wear you down, any doubts about a nice body shot are gone after you've taken one for the first time.

I remember Kostya Tszyu saying in the destiny documentary - you can recover from a head shot, you don't recover from body shots.

Have you ever seen a Golovkin fight?

Not only does GGG slows fighters down with his vicious body shots, he knocks them out with it.

    +1.

The body attack is a huge component of GGG's stalking, pressure counterpunching style and a big reason why it's so effective. The next guy to survive it longer than 10 rounds will be the first.

Agree Floyd's body attack is an important part of his game.
