We've had the best or at least one of the best (top 2) Super Middles for at least 10 years now, who can take on that mantle?

Is Groves ready to step up in class having been beaten by Froch? Or is it time for DeGale to come out from the shadows?

Could it be one of - Rocky Fielding, Callum Smith, Paul Smith or somebody, if anybody else??

    Thoughts??

Im still not convinced yet about C Smith.
I think DeGale could do well if given opportunities and remains focused. I think Degale has the skill to beat any active SMW if he fights the right game.

We have been blessed with top SMWs between England and Ireland with not only Calzaghe and Froch but also Woodhall, Reid, Catley, Benn, Eubank, Collins, Sutherland, Magee, but also we have had other top SMWs who were a threat to champs like Wharton, Francis, Starie to name a few.

Callum Smith looks really good at the level he is at just. Depends how well he can step. A couple of decent ranking fights and he could get a chance at a title he impressed on his American debut. I think Groves and Degale will be world champions within 12 months. So a chance at a domestic world title fight in 18-24 months. Rocky Fielding looked good against Adamu but would need to be stepping up and making weight to show anything.

If ward eventually gets back I the game he will stop any Brit from dominating like calzaghe did. He was always the top boy in his era

But smith/groves/Degail will all be top 5

I'm going with Eubank Jnr, I reckon he'll move up to SMW.

Still think out of all the fighters either near that level or coming through, Groves is the pick of the bunch.

No I don't think Froch is interested in Degale. Froch will have a 2/3 big money fights and hang them up I think. Looking for a bigger name than Degale globally.

Hearn seems sure Degales next for Froch as JCC fight isn't likely in the forseeable, Only leaves Kessler 3 (based on their previous 2 fights any demand for a 3rd will still be there in a year) & Degale as mandatory, personally if i was Froch & i couldn't fight in vegas i'd try & get Bika in Nottingham another world title to add as he's most likely got 2 fights left maybe 3.

I don't really think he is either, he wanted his name up in lights in Vegas but so far nothing has come off.

He's coming off the back of two 'domestic showdowns' now and Degale doesn't have the profile of previous opponents like Kessler or the likes of GGG & Chavez Jr, nor does he bring to the table the attention Groves did for there fights.

It won't happen, as Froch's put the whole saga to bed and rightly so, but I'd bet a 3rd fight with Groves would easily still draw more interest than Froch v Degale...
