Surprised no ones mentioned it....but the dad training him. No coincidence imo that he's been getting hit more lately. Since the dads had more involvement and rogers took more of a back seat. That plus age plus maidana being very hard to read....punches from anywhere in numbers. Always the style that would cause mayweather problems.

Age, and while he may not be taking much punishmnt during his fights, you also have to factor in the built up wear and tear that he puts his body through for fights, often times doing 5+minute rounds, limited water breaks, tough sparring etc.

    37 years old.

    37...

How do you know about that first statement? Do you chill with him 24/7 to confirm he doesn't do anything to harm his body? You can just dismiss that notion.

If Mayorga smoked cigs behind closed doors in training rather than in the open, guess what? Nobody would know that he smoked. Nobody knew that Hatton got heavy into cocaine after the Floyd fight until he told everyone years later.

Your statement that "his style lends it's self to longevity more than any other style" is an absolute joke. It is very well accepted that leg movement and stamina are the first things to go in an aging boxer. Being that so many make a big deal about him using his legs in fights, that would seem obvious to affect him greater than most boxers' styles out there. Power is the last thing to go with age. Floyd doesn't have/utilize/need his power... So, your opinion with that statement is just odd and most everybody out there would disagree with.

He wasn't mediocre, sure. No way. BUT that's a list of people he fought. Not exactly telling to just list people he fought without looking at whether he even won let alone how he looked. So you know he didn't even fight Kovalev, injured out of Dawson 1 (I assume partly because HE'S OLD), dominated by Dawson 2, KD twice by Pascal, looked shot against a shot RJJ to me, lost to Taylor officially, lost to Calzaghe and did it ugly -didn't even know where his corner was a few times. . .How many good winning performances did he really have in that list that he didn't look past it? Not many. Pavlik was one of the few where he looked great with everything. Can't see earlier Bernard even losing a controversial one to Taylor. Can't see him getting decked by Pascal. Can't see a shot RJJ not getting stopped by a prime Hopkins. Let's not kid ourselves in that he is not only past it but significantly more than Floyd is (I assume because HE'S OLD) and hasn't been fighting on a p4p level in quite some time. Those years are beyond him like they should be and Floyd is actually fighting in a higher regard status-wise than Bernard was at the same age. But like another poster said-there's nothing typical about Hopkins. I don't really get this thread. It's BS that Floyd's age caught up with him because he's young for his age even though people think his age is catching up with him? What is going on here? This guy's been boxing since he was a small child. It's so obvious that he's lost so much in terms of speed and power and sharpness compared to the force he was at 130 when he was so young. Just watch the tapes. There's no comparison. Is it more likely his decline is age or is it more likely...what? Aliens? The government? Broke his hands on the back of a woman's head too many times? What are we saying?

if he hadn't ducked and cherrypicked his way to 47-0 he would have been gone earlier

I think his vision is also deteriorating. Its going to make it harder for him to time his opponents. He missed a lot of right hands last Saturday night. More than I ever seen. He just couldn't find the right distance on many occasions.

Age, but he hasn't declined as bad as some think, he looked great against Canelo & Guerrero, I just think Maidana's style gave him trouble.

After Cotto and Maidana I: "His legs are gone!"

After Guerrero, Canelo and Maidana II: "He ran!"

this is correct, combine 37 yo and slowly declining with a style like maidanas and you have floyd not looking so good, floyd will look great again in his next fight, styles - you know the rest.
