I never compared Canelo to the likes of Whitaker, Rigo and Mayweather. But it definitely is his bread and butter, it's his strongest strength. He is much better at it than Bradley, and if you can't see this then you really dont know the basics of boxing

The size difference would spell bad news for Pac here. Pac is a small WW who has only once competed at JMW and not against anyone close to being considered a contender. Alvarez's solid defense would be bad news for Pac as his volume punching would seem the only way to win a decision here. Alvarez would surely land the stand out best punches of the round and would be applying the pressure. Pac could move and turn off the ropes against the relatively slow-footed Alvarez, though. As long as he could get his volume off and actually show IQ in moving away and limiting his spots, I might pick Pac. But Pac can't really do that all too well anymore, combined with recent form and never fighting a JMW anywhere close as good as Alvarez, so I would def have to pick Alvarez here.

Counter punching may or may not be Alvarez's bread and butter, but he can do it. He counters a lot actually. Watch the Lopez fight.

Now whether or not it is or isn't his best feature, he definitely can do it...

That being said, how many opportunities will he have to counter Pac? That's not what he would need to do to win... Like Smoak said, it's the size...

What's the best comparison you can make between previous Pacquiao and Alvarez opponents that leads you to that conclusion?

Canelo has some good attributes but man he is over rated. He landed a million punches against Mosley and couldn't put him away, same to Angulo before the ref stepped in to save Canelo's hands lol, Couldn't do crap against Floyd, couldn't hurt Lara as much as Angulo did, only person he ever hurt that was notable is Trout and couldn't finish the job.
He does throw in good combinations, but he is so flat footed, and his stamina is/ was terrible. Only way he possibly beats Pac is knock him out, but I don't think he lands a big enough counter against the much faster Pac. If Pac drags Canelo to the deep water he'll drown him as well.
I think this fight looks like DLH/ Pac honestly. If it got to look like Margarito/ Pac then Canelo would be doing better than I expect.

How many A level opponents has Canelo faced?
    Mayweather: clowned off the stage
    Lara: narrow points win
    Trout: narrow points win

Marquez already proved you can lose to FLoyd and still beat Pac. Besides, how many solid
    154 pounders has pack beaten?

Pacquaio has faster feet than anyone Canelo has ever faced.

Those are all superficial examples... What does not stopping Mosley have to do with him fighting Pac? What does not hurting Lara the same way Angulo did have to do with him fight Pac? What does stopping Angulo have to do with fighting Pac? And what does getting schooled by Floyd have to do with fighting Pac?

At best, you're telling me that his power is overrated, which I can see. But He will outweigh Manny by as much as Margarito did, and clearly he hits harder than Margarito based on the velocity of his punches alone, yet Margarito was able to hurt Pac.

And I still haven't seen anyone give me a reason to believe that a guy that managed to cut off the ring against the much more defensive and illusive Lara couldn't do the same to Pac, as if Pac has ever been that illusive.

Exactly. Canelo knocks his ass spark out just like 40 year old Marquez did, which is why Pacquiao and his team wouldn't even seriously consider the fight. Better to stick to featherfisted opponents like Bradley and Algieri and guys who can't land without you standing right in front of them like Rios.

Okay, that's a statement... What's your proof? I've seen plenty of fighters that weren't as fleet-footed as Pac manage to catch him. How many of them have the same tools as Canelo?

Cotto isn't that much bigger than Pac, they had the same reach and were basically the same height. Margarito, who badly hurt Pac, is no where near as skilled, no where near as fast, doesn't hit as hard (based on velocity alone), doesn't throw the crisp combinations that Canelo threw...

Post a vid or something, cause I'm still not convinced

you cant mention pac vs. drainelo without specifying the weightclass they are going to fight.

    pac cant/wont fight at 154.

are you suggesting drainelo will go down to 150?
