He must have thought that he had to stick to the Game Plan and that was to get him in the late rounds... God, don't you people get it that you gat to create the openings and then go for it, not just "OPEN UP" on somebody??? Your opponent misses the jab/hook - grabs your head and is wide open for the shot right down the pipe... If you look to open up on him, he will find the opening to score on YOU!

I never get tired of watching that KD or the right hand that buckled Calzaghe at the end of the 10th. By far, the two hardest punches in the fight landed by Hopkins. Calzaghe didn't even stun Hopkins once.

. . . . . because he won't last another 3 rounds if he uses all his energy that early. :D

I though that B-Hop knew about Calzage's high-workrate, and he realy wanted to slow that down (which he did briliantly, and no1 else has ever done), so , being a great feinter and counter-hitter, B-Hop thought he'd show Calzage early what would happen if he rushed in at him (in an attempt to keep him off), and it worked imo, Calzage looked nervous for a bit and didnt find his rythm for a good few rounds. I dont think Calzage found his compllete rythm at all, maybe in the last round?? B-Hop was great how he controlled the pace and tempo, no1s done that to Calzage!

Open up with a one punch arsenal?
Looked to me like Hopkins had one strategy.
"Swing for home run" and grab when you miss.

Joe was stung, but not really hurt. It was more balance that sent him down. Hopkins couldn't overcome age. The older you are, the more you don't like pain. He was through before he got into the ring. Young guy like Pavlik gets dissed around here for taking to give. But, at that age, the body is more willing.

Hopkins genuinely believed he was going to school Calzaghe, so wasn't bothered about getting it over quickly.

He would have had to dump his whole strategy for the match and would have gassed himself out at the risk of KOing a guy who's never been KO.

He was simply too old to do that.

Calzage was caught cleanly but was not badly hurt, Joe also has a problem with the wide stance that leaves him off balance. Bernard was carefull not to make the same mistake that Joe did. Hopkins got stunned a few times but Joe did not seem to gain any power with the extra weight, still the pace was getting to Bernard(thus the Fake Foul move) Bernard is still a fine speciman at his age and looks stronger @ 175 since the Tarver fight, Joe was just too busy for him,age was not a factor

You will be hard pressed to find photos of Calzaghe landing clean punches on BHop..there were like two.

It looked like he was knocked down by a right hand that landed flush in his face to me.
