Lets not forget Khan has beaten Maidana, Kotelnik, Collazo, Judah, Malignaggi and was robbed against Peterson. Butler has only beaten Stuart Hall (Should have been a draw) and a couple of road sweepers. However, I agree McDonnell should defo be on there.

No way you can have Ricky Burns in there. The title of the thread was 'right now' and Burns' record in the last four fights has been pretty poor. He is borderline shot.

Martin Murray is a classic 'nearly' man. I know he has been a victim of some away decisions, but he should not be in that top 10 either.

Paul Butler should be in there for sure though.

 

I know what you mean about Burns. But he's one of the most successful british fighters of the last 10 years... a 2 weight world champ, theres no other current active british fighter who has been a 2 weight world champ. He has solid wins over Katsidis, R Martinez, Moses, Gonzales,Mitchell. he was looking really good and was clearly p4p number 2 before he broke his jaw.

Even though Butler was a world champ, I think Saunders' has the better wins.

Going on past achievements, sure, but what about 'right now' aspect of this thread? Top 10 right now? Surely not. Even Hearn questions whether he'll ever be a force at world level again.

As an aside, I think you have got to admire Ricky Burns. As your list of impressive victories shows, he has had a super career. He is not what I would call a 'gifted' boxer or athlete and has not got much of a punch, so a fab career given his natural limitations.

 

Fair and square? Peterson was juiced to the gills on testosterone and he failed the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency test. And rumour had it that his balls were like coconuts. Not to mention that fact that Khan was deducted two critical points for pushing by the ref, something that no boxer had been penalised for before.

If that's 'fair and square', what would you call unfair.
