In your lifetime, which Brit winning a world title suprised you the most?

I view Khan as legitimate, and it wasn't much of a surprise given hisnolympic pedigree. Roach had a hell of a lot to do with Khan's turnaround.

I was born in 1948 but picked Honeyghan because I was very aware of him ,watching him frequently at RAH and Wembley.
Napoles was ready to go when Lawless and Duff manouvered Stracey into his shot.
Curry was seen as on a par with Leonard.He certainly carved up Colin Jones.

I was surprised that Gavin Rees won a world title.

 

Well done for that Mc Vey. I was around then and can't remember anybody picking him. Went for a drink with my uncle on the Sunday after. Id heard the result and had dropped it out. The fight was being showed that afternoon,and as he didn't know he wasn't best pleased. That would have been one of my picks,along with Ken Buchanan vs Laguna. Id seen him lose to Velasquez,and that really must have been a bad night for him. He showed what he really was against Laguna and other really good fighters.

I loved the story of Dennis travelling by tube to a press conference with his World Championship belt wrapped in a paper bag!!
