115-113 Abraham for me.The judges were awful no doubt about it. Smith put in a great effort think it happens the world over sadly...hometown scorecards. With regards Germany think back to Sven Ottke 34-0,6 ko's and some of the decisions he was gifted!
IF... That is not going to happen anytime soon. Germany pays too well, fighters will take the risk for extra money.
Watched last night then watched again now with no sound, Scorecards still an embarrassment, Smith won by a round or 2, couldn't get over how poor AA looked.
What it shows is that AA is near enough shot to **** for it to be even close. Every other super middlewight champion would make absolute mincemeat out of Smith Froch would do unspeakable things to him, wouldnt land a glove on Ward and Dirrell would bash him up as well As for the contenders, we dont have to imagine what Groves and Degale would do to him. He did well. He got a moral victory and he can tell the world he was robbed, but he did fcuk all to earn the shot so i'm not dissapointed he didnt come home with the belt
There were rounds especiely from the start to the middle which AA clearly won in fact he looked like he was coasting and yet to get out of second gear . Where Smith did start to look good was from rnd 6 on ,, he dropped the ball in rnd 11 and 12 , and allowed AA to win these rnds probably no question , so that just leaves the rnds 6-7-8-9-10 , where Smith looked good and like he could win the fiight . but even so in these rnds when AA spent 30 seconds actually having a go he looked dangerous , , So the question remains , what if the judges all thought the home boy looked good enough in them rounds and smith did'nt do enough and land enough clean shots to take the rnds away . Hence you get a good fight but a clear loser .. Just playing devils advocate here ,. I personaly had it a draw with Paul needing the last 2 rnds , and think he gave it away , I think then he should of been told , its even , you want it go get it and take a chance , after all there was a world title at stake , and AA was looking tired , he also looked hurt on a couple of occasions, i THINK a big effort from Paul could of backed him up and won the fight , The right hook to the dody was a great tool , but it was never going to stop AA in the last 2 rnds , then he should of just dragged AA into it , Paul was the fitter , AA was tiring , just look at rnd 11 , AA came out hard Paul weathered it and came back but being the challenger too little to late , he lost the rnd , , he should of said Fack you lets fight and gone and took the rnd, same in 12 , . Mind you would'ny of made any difference to the scorecards , but heh , your away , your fresher than the champp , he's starting to tire , he's getting older , and someone sooner or later will stop him . why not try to do it yourself Joe new it was close , and he knew its the champs backyard , he should of told smith thats it cards all in , go for broke if you want to be champ . Bet your life Froch would off ,, but then again he's champ already .
Good post but I don't think anyone can justify them scorecards as well as you have tried. 109-119 scorecard was embarrassing.
AA looked better and more dangerous when he did decide to actually do any, but Smith blocked alot of those punches in the bursts AA had. Smith was definately the busier fighter taking the centre of the ring he could have done more but IMO he was robbed.
Nothing is that red billy. I am getting fitter managed 1 hour of intense boxing/circuit training on Sunday, (still in agony) was running up hills a few days after my torture lol. When is the Iranian boy making his debut?
We already knew that heading in. Abraham was on a ****-poor run of form going back years, outside Stieglitz III (which really just showed that Stieglitz himself is shot to ****) All true but he should have, if not earned the belt for his try, at least taken a draw or narrow decision loss. Not that bollocks.
