Hopkins has been above Floyd for years. Hopkins never ducked anyone. Floyd has ducked several top guys who had the style to beat him. That "0" is meaningless if you have a brain.
Hopkins ranks higher than Floyd already. Hopkins is fighting the best in his division at 50 years old. Even more surprisingly is he is winning.
I already rate Hopkins ahead of Mayweather by a good margin. Fact is if you fight a who is who of pretty much every fighter worth fighting you will take a loss here and there. Hopkins is a once in a lifetime type of fighter, and even if he can stink up the joint and make things very ugly or boring i will still miss him when hes gone.
In what way is Floyd more skilled than Hopkins? Hopkins would have EASILY beaten a guy like Maidana. Even in the second fight, Floyd was using way too much energy, missing way too many opportunities to capitalize by throwing punches, and relied on the ref everytime Maidana got close. Floyd also took some serious shots and looked to be the more beat up fighter after the fight. Hopkins would have made that look like a walk in the park.
Few years ago not many people would say this, now its almost seems like the consensus. And i fully agree with it.
All credit to Hopkins for fighting for championships at almost fifty years old but Mayweather is undefeated in 18 years across five weight divsions. What Hopkins has accomplished does not exceed that in my opinion and a victory over Kovalev won't change it.
So you think Mayweather is better because hes undefeated? Hopkins would be undefeated too if he was selective of his opponents like Mayweather.
pretty obvious that everyone already believes hopkins is above floyd. im not much of a hopkins fan but i respect his game and tip my hat to the man.
Hopkins lost his first fight at light-heavyweight and then moved down in weight. Mayweather rightfully gets some criticism for not having faced everyone he could have fought but he hasn't been fighting bums as he moved up in weight. Other than Judah, who had just lost the lineal championship at 147, and the fighters he rematched, everyone he has fought recently had a belt. It's hard to say a fighter is selective when he only fights other fighters having a title.
Kovalev doesn't make any difference. If you don't rank B-Hop above Floyd now then you also won't if he beats Kovalev.
