This guy has fought all of his adult life and at this point he has earned the right to call his shots and and earn the biggest paydays available. The biggest are not versus Pavlik, Tarver or Dawson (as much as the purists may want to see these fights) it is against Roy Jones Jr. Likewise Jones has secured the status of entering into another huge promotional event. A fight between them would be memorable. A Tarver or Dawson fight vs Calzaghe would be like taking a step sideways and forgettable. Pavlik's time is yet to come.

Has he not already made a lot of money thus far? I don't mind Calzaghe/Jones but don't expect anyone to give him any credit for a win there. I stated in another thread there's no one or two fighters out there that can be a big boost legacy wise. He would need to beat 4-5 of them for his position to improve in that sense.

He fought most of his child life, too.

Would you rather have $10 million in the bank or walk around with a legacy and a wallet full of faded newspaper clippings?

Agreed. And I think that even though Jones has faded - he is still Roy ****ing Jones, the best fighter in the last 20 years. Even if he has faded, he still deserves a shot at the current champ before he retires. They have BOTH earned it.

This is true. And of course it gives Roy Jones to achieve another first in his career by fighting away from home for the first time :good

Exactly well put! The tourch is passed from all of the great fighters. Louis to Marciano, Ali to Holmes, Holmes to Tyson, Chavez to De La Hoya and on and on.

Joe should never ever fight in the US again. Not when he can put 50.000 vs. Kessler and probably 70.000 vs. Jones in a home stadium...

Ripping off Welsh/UK fans is really bad. If they are the ones to pack an arena or stadium in the first place, why should they make an overseas trip to buy crazy priced tickets? 10.000 getting ripped off vs. 70.000 very happy?

It doesn't make sense. Hopfully Warren will realize that. It's Calzaghe who's on the top now. Let the other fighters come into his backyard and bring their fans. Let's see how many true fans Roy Jones or Kelly Pavlik has!

Anyways: if Jones vs. Calzaghe will be in the U.K., I'm gonna create the first EastSideBoxing army to invade the event! :D I'm serious, I'm ready to organize a trip for those who live outside of the UK. Anyone interested?

3 days after the crafty Hopkins made everone look silly who picked an easy win for Joe and people are predicting an easy fight again... :huh

The Pavlik fight is easy, but Jones' style is still not the best for Joe.

i wouldn't blame joe cashing in, he has not generated the wealth he should of, becuase of warren and his earlier propoter mickey duff had him fighting for peanuts and he was struggling to pay for his mortgage.

Pavlik needs to build his resume and draw as does Dawson ..

If your Joe you want to go out on a high note making the most money !! Can't balme the man for that ! There isn't one boxer out there that doesn't eventually want to get to the big fights its now Cazlaghe's turn !
