Haymon paying NBC $20 million for 24 fight dates

you have no idea of how this works, breaking the ali act has nothing to do with tv executives and they can't get sued over it.

if he is breaking the ali act its up to the boxing federations to start an investigation and make it federal. read up sunshine

 

Not neccasarily true. Some managers may have the experience and/or inside knowledge of television, so they may get the deal done.

Not defending Haymon, but he has been in the entertainment business, and did have some major influence in his brother's fight against Sugar Ray Leonard. Haymon knows the ins and outs, legality, etc of television and entertainment contracts so its could be he has a silent agreement with a promoter to get the TV dates secured.

i've not seen ward duck anyone yet. he seems like the type to welcome challenges. i think he beats stevenson, kovalev. i don't know enough about beterbiev, gvodsyk or mekhontsev to comment on them.

bhop is a master boxer and understands very simple things that seem to be lost on todays fighters. i know he saw the flaws that i've seen from kovalev. he'll take him to deep waters then drown him if he doesn't get caught with anything early. kovalev does have a punchers chance. i'm going with the old guy in this match up.

 

u don't put money on the table like these guys without exploring the legal aspects of all of this. i think u are the one that needs to learn how this works.

mate its not there place to get tv deals, these fighters are supposed to be signed to promotional companys that already have tv deals inplace(sometimes exclusive deals) now they are also signed to another network as well? the mans a promotor and the quicker he just admits he is the less abuse he will get.

it just makes everything seem way more fishy

don king was the devil but he put on some of the greatest fight cards of all time, the same can't be said for haymon

 

he ducked adonis at 168 mate. if he moves up he will also have to face guys that are the same size or bigger than him and physcially stronger, this could really neutralise his inside game where he likes to bully fighters. I could see him have having a lot of problems with Kovalev and Beterbeiv especially

what you fail to realise that kovalev is by a mile the biggest puncher bhop has ever faced, Kovalev doesn't have to aim for his head or body he merely has to hit him where ever he can and very soon hopkins will crumble ,simple physics and science

 

excellent post, great article and a perfect illustration of the importance of a great manager. bill cayton and jim jacobs both did a tremendous job with mike tyson. they are the reason max kellerman is in the position he is in today. he has them and their great fight film collection to thank for his early exposure on cable access television in nyc.

the man is dynamic. the only one trying to paint him into the promoter box are the promoters who view him as a threat.

 

Al Haymon will single handed bring the sport of boxing back to America and make it as American as Apple pie.
This genius is wise enough to understand that the path to creating a boxing empire is to grow the market. In the last few decades after Ali the boxing market began to shrink. Fewer boxing gyms were open and kids when asked what they wanted to be when they grew up answered with Boxer less and less.

Al Haymon and MP are about to bring boxing back to mainstream America. He will make a ton of money for the boxers who are his clients and 10 years from now when you ask a kid what he wants to do with his life his answer will be, an Al Haymon boxer, or, I want to be like Al.

Old school! Bringing boxing back to the major networks for free......love the idea if he can pull it off. I think PPV events have gotten out of control with regards to their price. I wish Haymon the best with this endeavor.

i'll just leave it at this...consider the fact that it's bhop that asked for this fight. he doesn't chase opponents unless he sees something to be exploited. he made the statement that stevenson was the harder fight before either fight could be made. kovalev...like most punchers...has to set his feet to punch. bhop is a master at controlling distance, even at this advanced age, and that will be the difference. ppl are overly excited because of kovalevs recent streak of ko's. i'll admit, they're very impressive...but when u consider the fact that the guys he ko'd were already softened up to begin with...they look less impressive. the last guy he ko'd showed a glimpse of what bhop can do all nite. problem with the last guy was that he was in over his head and out of his element. he started out great and froze. bhop will not be freezing...and he will be turning kovalev all night. i am looking forward to that fight.
