Just because a fighter has never been knocked down or like in the case of duckweather(who has been knocked down by judah and anther fighter)

they think they have iron chins the coward has only had 3 big flush shots landed on him and he did not react to them well which says that if he did not have that defence he would be in big trouble

then you have fighters who don't use defense and rely only on their chin like duran, froch, margo, pac

these guys have got hit by not just 1 2 3 flush shots but they have been hit by 100 of flush shots before they been down or knocked out
this is someone with a iron chin

i will give you one prime example when shane fought duckweather he was unroided and hit duckweather with just ONE shot and had duckweather scrambling and dancing to the ropes now take margo who eat the same shots for 9 rounds without using defense he had 1000 of them before he started to buckle now who has a better chin?

Totally agree. A lot of fighters that ends up knoccked out would have never even been even knoccked down if only they didn't fight face first.

And also the two things are correlated: boxers uses a cautious style when they know they are vulnerable.
Going all in swinging like crazy is so much easier than fighting all worried of being hit.

And regarding Hypeweather... he got dazzed with a single punch by a pillow glowed Maidana, while Amir Khan took bigger shots on the side of the chin and took them better. And Maidana had his "cheating gloves" on!

Hypeweather probably has a weaker chin than Khan.

yea fighters who put more into their defense know their packing glass if those kind of fighters left their defense for just 2 fights they would be finished

exactly he has a weaker chin then khan khan just needs to improve on his defense.

obviously fighting using defense means you have a weak chin, that must be a fact in ****** land. using defense means you have a brain and know that defense always beats offense.

that "iron" chinned marg you babble about was out on his feet against journeyman santos, so how does he have a iron chin ? he is just too dumb to understand how important defense is in all of sport to be truly successful. your dumbass claims duran as a face first brawler, the dude had GREAT defense. get a clue, please

Please don't call a beltholder from 154, hard hitting Santos a jorneyman. And he didn't even KD Margarito. Margo has iron chin but no defense.

    Margo's chin 10/10.

    Floyd's chin 7/10.

Does it really matter though? The reason why Floyd's chin is 7/10 is because he is in the welterweight division, walks around at 150 and fights dudes that are 15-20 lbs heavier. Plus his defense and skills allow him to have no need to go to "chin school".

Is it really such a mystery? A guy who relies on a lot of defense and doesn't take many risks or isn't willing to engage, what conclusion can we draw from that?

It is plausible that Mayweather's seemingly iron chin is mirage - the product of his skill at largely avoiding being hit cleanly, or if hit, effectively rolling with the punch.

If so, however, Mayweather's lack of mandibular strength will get exposed as he ages and his skill declines, as happened with Roy Jones.

Ultimately, the jury is still out. However, at this point, there is no evidence other than getting rocked by an aging Mosley, that Mayweather has trouble taking a punch.

Mayweather has a good chin but I would not say great. His defensive ability of not getting hit flush very often is what saves him. This said, when he gets hit clean (which happen rarely) he always reacts fine and does not panic. But yeah, it could definitely be a mirage. After all, the name of the game is to hit and not get hit...

Get help. Seriously. Mayweather - who was a caught by a Mosley haymaker is sporting a weaker chin than someone who was knocked down by Willie Limond?

You sir are a buffoon. There are plenty of people I know think Pacquiao beats Mayweather who I respect. You are not one of them. The reason? You spout this type of nonsense on a daily basis.

I think your chin is definetly suspect when you get KO'D by a fighter who was fighting at LW just 2 fights before. Also, when you virtually levitate when a small WW with no power hits you flush..suspect. The lesson to be learned is anyone can be hurt if they are hit just right. It's how you recover that matters most.

Lol your a idiot, I stopped reading at "then you have boxers who rely on their chins" you think they really create game plans assuming they are going to be tagged? They just have poor defense is all, these fighters don't rely on taking flush shots and walking through them, they rely on their power to keep their opponents at a distance and eventually hurt and beat them.

Margo was busted for cheating and since then he only beat some bum in mexico. I don't know why you feel you need to over rate him simply because pacquiao fought him, Margo is a poor reference and should have never been allowed to box. Mosley knocked him out , so now were going to assume Mosley was better then PAC according to your logic.
