Not saying it isn't. I don't think Galahad is there yet. But it's hardly an exciting prospect. Wake has been on a bit of a roll recently what with the 5KO's in his last 5. But only one of those wins was over a decent opponent; in a fairly green Oguni. Since then he's knocked out 4 people who'd all suffered KO's before (in some cases multiple times).

I think Wake is a decent fighter with some decent speed that could trouble Quigg for a few rounds, but I just don't think he's world level.

What can be said about the Galahad fight though is that it'd at least have some general appeal. Plus it'd probably help build up the potential Frampton fight for (the likely winner) Quigg who's not exactly what you could call a draw as is.

 

Neither is Frampton. If he was, he wouldn't be fighting on BoxNation.

 

Kid Galahad is better than the blown up bantamweights that Quigg has been feasting on in his last few fights. Quigg is a good fighter, but people are loosing interest in him fighting stiffs

 

Yeah but unlike Quigg he can shift a ****load of tickets. You'd have to be an idiot to think that's not an important difference. Plus Frampton's title win gave him a huge amount of mainstream exposure in Ireland.

 

Sure, but TV money is what drives a fight.

Huge American "stars" fight regularly in tiny arenas and it's the TV money that allows them to get big purses, not the gate receipts. Carl has never done huge numbers, so the notion of him being a massive star is simply not true. He's the crown in Northern Ireland's jewel, but that's a tiny nation in the grand scheme of things.

The Galahad offer was also for the fight to take place in Dubai. I can hardly blame Eddie for being suspicious.

 

I didn't say I was vouching for the Galahad fight. I said I don't think he's there yet. But regardless it's certainly true to say that a Quigg vs Galahad fight would generate more money and be more anticipated that the Wake fight.

And US tv money vs UK tv money is a completely different ball game. Quigg headlining on a Saturday night Sky Sports card won't be making a lot automatically because he's on tv. With this PPV (which I can't see selling well) he's not even headlining so I'd be highly doubtful he'd be making a huge amount there. I think the thing that probably pisses people off about the Galahad offer is the way Hearn completely shrugged it off as if it was automatically not worth discussing.

 

Who fills arenas out of the two? Scott NEEDS the rest of his team to make the numbers up. Carl only needs himself.

 

Comparing Quigg and yank TV stars? Hahaha.

Quigg couldn't draw flies to muck, mate. F*ck, if Carl goes to sky, Quigg will be in serious ****.

 

Wake has never boxed outside Japan where he has lost 4 times and drawn twice. If it's a better fight than Galahad, let's hope Swiss Toni rewards him with a purse in excess of £400k.
