As a fighter even Larry Holmes couldn't get past the likes of Spinks and Tyson..

And even Muhammad Ali after a while started to rack up losses.

Yet Vitali has been one of the greatest title holders of recent memory with the exception of Lewis and Wladimir maybe.

The stronger Klitschko.. and gave Lennox a tough fight.

the only proper decent fighter he fought though he lost though. Good fighter potentially denied the chance to be a "great" because everyone else was crap in his era

What a loada bollocks. "...everyone else was crap..."
Stupid, naive statement. Plus everyone fair-minded knows he retired Lewis, who was a very lucky man those cuts occurred that night.

    Agree with this.

Vitali only got legitimately beat by Lewis (shoulder injury loss wasnt a real 'beating' of vitali IMO) who is probably the best h2h heavy of all time. Vitali is a h2h monster and in a better era may well have stated a good case for being an ATG at heavy.

the other way of looking at it is he fought a past prime lewis, who was far heavier than his normal fight weight and still couldn't beat him.

The post lewis era of HW's is crap, theres some decent fighters, but to be considered the greatest ever HW champion you need other great fighters to beat and neither klitscho can claim to have done this.

He cheated against herbie hide, thumbed him in the eye then took advantage hide would have smashed him. Cost herbie his championship

    Uh...Lennox Lewis? Hello?

Vitali has ATG potential but Lewis was an ATG, arguably the best heavy ever.
