For those not to familiar with Irish-boxing and want to get up to speed before Sky's Nov 15 show- there are interviews video interviews with all the boxers here: www.irish-boxing.com. Besides having Macklin and John Joe Nevin on the card there are some great trade fights. Ian Tims versus Michael Sweeney should be a ******* (see them go for each other at the press conference here: http://www.irish-boxing.com/video-irish-prizefighters-act-security-pull-tims-sweeney-apart/ ) That bad blood pales in comparison the tension between Anthony Fitzgerald and Spike O'Sullivan- Irish fight fans have been calling for that fight for years. The Patrick Hyland versus Simpson is another quality fight.. Frampton fight nights are hard to match and they have even surpased the great Bernard Dunne nights, but in terms of the entire show this is the best card to come to Ireland. It will be well worth a look on Sky too.
Have you heard of any more fighters added to the card. Nice that JJN is added to the card wonder if there is a few more surprises to come up. Could any of the Up tons be added to the show??
I don't think the Frampton fights have surpassed the Dunne fights, nor is this card particularly superior to those Dunne shows, but it's an excellent first stab at the market. Perhaps Hearn is overcompensating and stacking the bill with interesting Irish fights, and if he is then that's welcome. You'd only hope he continues.
I can tell you from experience mate that the Frampton fights and cards are better then Dunne's. The Dunne cards were always **** poor the last Frampton card was **** but the one with Parodi was really good. Atmosphere at a Frampton fight is also better with the exception of Dunne vs Cordoba which was the best fight atmosphere i'v ever seen, i wasn't at Frampton vs Kiko 2 though which was probably better. I'm a big fan of Dunne he got me into boxing but Frampton is on a different level.
My point, badly made, was the atmosphere for Dunne-Cordoba surpassed Frampton-Kiko. Their crowning fights and one was superior IMO. Now other factors come into play; the rugby win earlier in the day, the unexpected nature of Dunne's victory, the Katie Taylor effect on the undercard and the indoor venue. As for comparing their fights in the lead-up, a draw will suffice. The Frampton atmosphere at the Odyssey is electric, and I have been to them all.
