This is where he got knocked off balance in the White fight because his feet were squared up. People were trying to make out he was hurt but that wasn't the case at all. 9:36 mark [YT]Q7thE70hv5w[/YT]
It ain't quite that simple though is it? The fight with Cleverly was already made prior to the White fight, only awaiting the Kovalev win for signing. The announcment of Kovalev as Hopkins' mando was very much an unexpected last minute development. When Kovalev was announced as Hopkins mando a few days of intense negotiation followed (during which time Duva left Warren holding his dick at the Cleverly - Kovalev announcement presser, Hopkins shot his own offer across to Warren for a Cleverly fight and Espinoza stated that he had no interest in televising Hopkins - Kovalev) - The not unreasonable conclusion drawn by Duva was that it was better to go with the Cleverly title fight which was already made than chasing after a Hopkins fight which looked unlikely to materialise. All the above is a matter of record as I'm sure you know - you can draw your own conclusions, naturally, but hinting that Kovalev preferred Cleverly to Hopkins is a little disingenuous. One fight was already made, the other looked likely to face serious roadblocks - it made absolute sense for Kovalev to fight Cleverly rather than being sidelined and possibly having to wait around for months just to fight for a vacant title.

no and funny how the vid stops as soon as he is knocked why did it not go longer to show kov getting up?
And this is the guy who is supposed to have a chance against Hopkins? And they call Golovkin untested? Kovalev is ten times more untested than Golovkin. In fact, so far he has done literally NOTHING. Kovalev just has a punch, but is probably unable to land it on anything that move.
John David Jackson said he saw B-Hop get hurt in sparring when he was part of his team. I reckon it must've been when he sparred the feather-fisted Scottish MW Craig McEwan during preparation for Calzaghe.
The last person Hopkins dropped was Calzaghe who was nothing special and he couldn't put a dent in Dawson, so I think Kovalev will be alright.
