He's not the lineal champ but he's recognized as the best MW in the world. It's a bit of a catch 22 because he's got the pedigree....the polished AM record and undefeated record...but he's faced limited opposition.

With that said....he's faced everyone that was available and some were top level MW's......the way he's handled the "step ups" in competition has been impressive and speaks to the hype surrounding this guys power. There's a bit of the whole "Edwin Valero" hype surrounding GGG with regards to his power.

It's not a given....but's its safe to say Golovkin is deserving of the hype based on all these factors leading up to what we hope turns out to be yet another special fighter to carry the torch once Floyd and Pac call it a career.

 

to be the man you gotta beat the man. Cotto beat the man GGG's beat nobody so Cotto whether you or I agree is the man. It seems GGG will get his chance soon enough both Cotto & Canelo(two more accomplished fighters) have both said they won't duck GGG after they fight.
