Had had Jones fought Calzaghe in his prime his detractors would have accused him of cherry picking a Euro bum.

Yeah Calzaghe would of been a step down from the security officer and part time chefs that roids fought all his career.

    He would have beaten cal

    But let's get serious

A 31 year old eubank got dropped by a green calzaghe

    This kid was seriously good

Jones jnr the greatest talent of all time ruined his career after toney

He will never be the undisputed goat because he misses benn eubank Collins nunn rematch with bhop calzaghe GMAN

And to be goat he would have had to beat Tyson after Ruiz

Jones fought some worse opponents in his prime plus by the time Calzaghe was a champion, Jones was already a LHW.

If you consistently fight the best, you lose. But hey, Calzaghe didn't do it either. That's the problem with boxing and fans like the OP are trying to make excuses for fighters avoiding opponents decades later only help to enable it.

How's it his fault Eubank wanted no parts of him or that Gman was injured and Joe wanted nothing to do with him in his prime ...Funny you fault. Jones but Eubank and Joe openly admitted that they wanted no parts of him in his prime .

in context, joe was basically a guy who was gifted a world title by facing a non champ who had retired and had comeback at a heavier weight, needing to cut down to fight, and for a title that was the least wanted least important, and had been defended by cheat stoppages to mae it more of a joke. calzghe was basically a nobody with no acheivements until he fought lacy and Kessler right at the end.

no way roy takes such a stepdown to such fakery. moreover there is no way joe takes that step up, even Kessler, the one good thing that joe did, was basically just a good defence, nowhere near stepping up to a prime multidivision atg.

joe would have lost to jones, toney, Hopkins, griffin, echols and even Byron mitcehll on neutral territory without a ref to save him. and that's just the beginning of the list against which his weak inaccurate slaps would get surgically picked apart.

if jones had fought joe, then joe would have needed to go throughsome of these guys to get to roy and that means several losses on his resume, which joe didn't want, since without his record he only has Kessler and old Hopkins.

No one would accuse Roy of cherry picking because he would of been staring into a Doctor's pen light flat on his back.

Jones' chin + Young Calzaghe with good hands = vicious KO.

weak inaccurate slaps that need a paid ref to stop his fights against weaklings to retain unwanted title.

versus accurate hard fast blows on neutral territory versus hof from multititle multiweight jones

    do the math.

Tired long all this RJJ brown nosing or idol worship. Let's be honest: how many top fighters did he K.O.? Hopkins? Toney? Ruiz? Calza . Yes, Felix and some other guys but not many top oned. Calz was great smart champion.

We saw him late in his career, but he has higher K.O
% than a lot of good fighters. Is there any doubt Joe C coulda beat Andre Direll, Pavlik, Froch, Dawson, or Cloud? Hah those are "fun" fights for him.
