Agressive Tucker? Bad idea.He went the distance because he wasn't agressive. Agressive Tucker= Tyson ko win.He wasn't easy to hit
    because he could run.

And? This is sport not psychology.By your argument every win is
    crap in every sport.
Otherwise Tyson's mental state wasn't his strength.
This psychological factor is "good" for the excuses.
"I was nervous etc. and your win is a big nothing"
Can you imagine some Lennox Lewis opponents with similar excuses?
For example i can say Lewis' Golota win is **** because Golota was nervous.
Lewis' Briggs win was crap because his opponent looked like a
    confused man.
Lewis' Vitali win was **** because Klitschko was frightened by his cut.
Lewis' Mccall win was garbage because McCall was total desperate.
Lewis' Tyson win is nothing because maybe the good old Mike was
    too depressive.
Lewis' Grant win is bull**** because Grant isn't a IQ king.

Tyson from 85-88 would box to a plan and would be adaptable when the tko didn't come early.

Thomas was troubling Tyson with his jab and was holding him tight in a clinch when he got close. Tyson peppered him with body shots and played a patient game that night.

In that tko round if you see Rooney asking Tyson why isn't he throwing punches with bad intentions Tyson tells him that Thomas is getting tired.

If only he fought with this discipline and a proper game plan in all his future fights, he would not have sold himself short

Tyrell biggs at that time was being compared to Mohammad Ali for the manner in which he moved around the ring and threw those jabs. He was expected to trouble Tyson big time. After the first round Tyson figured out his movement and followed him perfectly in the ring and ofcourse his superior timely head movement meant the jabs were useless

Strangely enough I thought that first round was an impressive round for both fighters and great for the rest of us to watch. Biggs moving smoothly on his feet and pumping out the jab and Tyson moving forward yet at the same time showing great upper body and head movement. After the round ended, you thought that we were in for one hell of a fight but Tyson soon got the measure of Biggs as he increased the pressure on Biggs whilst still showing his defensive skills.

Thats why I still say its probably Tyson's best performance both defensively and offensively plus the occasional dirty move like the elbow and forearm thrown in for good measure.

    Ken...u r right.
Ive always followed Tyrell and he came into the Tyson fight with a plan.He boxed and moved beautifully for most of round one..but watch with 25 seconds remaining of the round, a double elbow on the blindside of the ref splits the inside of Biggs mouth. From that point the confidence slid out of Tyrell instantly.
Funnily enough Tyson landed an amazing 9 elbows including one blatant one on meeting in mid ring at the start of round 7.Also some late blows including a haymaker as Biggs dropped his guard as the ref broke them in round 5...nearly flattened Biggs...Tyson didnt get so much as a warning !

    VVMM...i take your point.
I was trying to make the point that some guys came with a plan and at least tried....ie Biggs
and some guys didnt (who had the ability) like Spinks and Bruno.
But Tyson deserves credit for his aura having that effect on people.
I understand the point you make.

    Pinklon Thomas.

He was in great shape and after the first round he started to box really well. Thomas was very talented and he had the tools and was using them. He was out boxing a prime Tyson for a few rounds. That big jab was in Tysons face and Mike was starting to get frustrated.

Then Mike turned his lights out with one of the greatest combinations a heavyweight ever delivered. It was lightening.

pinkie was trying to an ali with his hands down haha. Lil MIke destroyed all the Ali wannabies of the 80s, I can see why people say he could beat Ali. Although no one of the wannabies had the heart ali had (apart from holmes, a hybrid ali wannabie), the real crucial factor, heart.

Angelo Dundee before the fight spoke about Thomas doing a number on Tyson and taking him to school. Did not even congradulate Tyson or shake his hand after the fight
