I thought so until about 2 years ago but no, Maravilla would not have beaten him and I don't even think he would come close to reaching the final bell.

Love Maravilla but Golovkin is something else.

I'd like to think so. But in reality I'm not so sure. Golovkin still hasn't faced anyone who moved as well as prime Martinez or with his sheer speed. Golovkin is easy to hit and I could see him getting caught a lot while coming in.

But then Golovkin applies so much pressure, is the best body puncher in boxing at the moment and Martinez can be reckless with that low guard and does get caught and against Golovkin that's a recipe for disaster.

    Martinez wouldn't have had a Chinaman's chance.
Drop your hands against GGG and you're going to get hurt bad. This isn't a dancing show on TV or a bicycle race.

I think it has to do with strengths and weaknesses. Maravilla's achille's is his lack of durability or chin if you call it. Lesser punchers were able to stop/hurt him throughout his career. In addition, his unconventional style may suit him well against certain opponents but always left him a bit open to punches since he fought with his hands down. Ultimately, I think he would get caught and stopped.

No and I'm a huge Martinez fan, also don't believe we ever seen a prime Martinez.
