Funny thing is we'd all be rooting for him had he actually paid his dues to get the shot.
I'd even give him a better shot had he faced a few guys who could give him rounds.
Now he's been dropped in like Lou Saverese was against David Izon.
"Oh, and by the way your fighting a live body tonite, and he plans to try to beat you up"
This is a spot Wilder has never been in. His handlers screwed him, and he can only hope for his own sake he's better than they think he is.

Stiverne has to deal with that reach advantage though.

Will be interesting to know what both mens tactics are.

Another point. I heard Billy C make good point about how Andre Berto was developing before our eyes as a champ, and was still learning.
That the tough tests didn't occur until he started fighting at championship level, and how it may have shortened his career.
This is the same boat Wilder is in.
Fighters need those tests...Before they get a shot.
It's a huge disservice to the fighters who don't get those challenges earlier on.

Yes there is a huge gap in reach, but Wilder won't be out jabbing him.
He will have to catch Stiverne coming in with a right, or catch him laying on the ropes.

As soon as Stiverene lands a good one, it will be the beginning of the end for Wilder.

Stiverene has fast hands, good power, and good skill. He's a little conservative though.

Best guess is Wilder is out classed and taken out in 5.

I wouldn't put him above Povetkin even if he beat Stiverne. But if he does get the win over Stiverne, then giving Povetkin a shot after that wouldn't be a bad move. I think people would love to see that fight too.

That's jumping too far ahead though. It's Stiverne (WBC belt holder) vs. Wilder (mandatory challenger). :bbb

F-ck that, I'm putting a week's wage on Stiverne to chin him inside 4, Wilder is gonna windmill his way right into a perfectly timed counter and get KTFO.

I actually agree tbh, a few months ago I thought Wilder but the closer the fight gets and the more I see of Stiverne I can smell a minor upset coming, he's a big puncher himself and he's a lot faster than you'd first think plus his timing and accuracy is spot on.
