Would he have been more or less successful? For all the talk of Calzaghe's slapping and his pitty-pat style I'm of the opinion that if he had been trained in a more orthodox fashion he wouldn't be nearly as successful. He breaks the rules but somehow it works - a bit like Hamed. How do you think Calzaghe would have done if he had been trained by a more well known trainer like Steward or Roach, rather than by Enzo who had no previous experience?
Agreed. Pretty funny the number of people who watch training videos and comment on how Enzo is **** with the mitts etc and meeting Joe's punches halfway. Or how Joe's tiny 9 punches per second on that punch-counting bag "wouldn't stop anyone". Seems to have served him pretty damn well thus far.
I agree, he is very unique in his style and it works. If he was more textbook i think his career would be average. Although if he came up against someone of MAB's class prime he would have been looking at a defeat too; although it must be said he is more adaptable than Hamed.
He does gruelling runs through the gwent mountains. Lots of hills and steep climbs, watched a sky sports feature on him a few years back.
he said he ran further when he was in vagas due to it being all flat but from what i have read he does 5-6 mile runs up mountains.
