I just wanna ask about your opinion what do you think that jumping rope is really effective and helpful for improving footwork..?
i dont know why everybody does it, maybe beacuse pros do it, so why dont we? I do it cause i like it i feel really good when jumping rope, i like variations, interval challenges, tricks etc. sure, there is conditioning improvement and also my footwork improved but i can`t say that the reason is rope or just drills for boxing.
yeah, it's the classic boxer's exercise; rhythm, grip, shoulders, calves, heart and lungs etc. are worked----and it's interval training too.
Jumping rope is key to finding your balance and learning to become light on your feet. I'd say that becoming a veteran at jumping rope helped me up my footwork but it isn't a substitute for it.
One of my trainers used to train kids who couldn't jump rope very well by giving them a jump rope that was cut through the middle of the rope---really, they were jumping two halves of a rope. Don't worry about looking fancy or showing off with a jump rope, just jump the rope. After doing it a while the fancy moves just kind of gradually work their way into your ability to jump rope. :bbb
jumping rope gets your timing etc perfect, helps with your footwork definitely and is an essential part to boxing training. i love it.
