It looks like the WBO 140 title currently held by Chris Algieri will become vacant due to Algieri fighting Manny Pacquiao next for the WBO 147 title.

This will mean the WBO ranked 1 and 2 will fight for the Vacant belt. The current Number 1 is Lucas Matthysse and the Number 2 is Ruslan Provodnikov.

It looks like this fight will happen in the early part of 2015 and is the main reason Provodnikov chose such a safe fight against Jose Castillo rather then risk a World title shot next year against a tougher opponent.

Ruslan Provodnikov vs Lucas Matthysse will be a WAR but the question is WHO WINS?

Before the Matthysse-John Molina fight i probably would have gone for Matthysse winning but now i think Provodnikov would slowly break Lucas down and stop him by around the 10th round.

What are your thoughts about this mouth watering fight?

This would be a great fight for the fans but I can almost guarantee some bull**** will get in the way of making this happen.

Matthysse, far superior and more proven time and time again.

matthysse isn't far superior to ruslan his best win is peterson.matthysse isn't a master boxer he wont be hard to find for ruslan.this fight will come down to who has the greater will.matthysse has looked really shaky recently even talked about retiring.I think ruslan beats him right now.

Would be a hell of a fight. Both come forward, both have power, both can be hit, both can take a shot but anybody can be hurt/stopped. Impossible to predict a winner imo

Matthysse would KO Ruslan in a very unpleasant but damn exciting match

There should be a poll option about the fans being the real winners here.

I don't know of him ever being dropped or properly hurt but I don't think he has fought anyone who hits like Matthysse. I have little doubt that either guy could hurt or stop the other if they land clean shots.

Favoring Rusty at the moment. Less skill but tougher. Siberian deer hearts > chimichurri.
