Why are people so quick to count hopkins out?

Kovalev is vastly over rated. Everyone will say they knew that after the fight.

 

Not counting out Hopkins, that's the referee's job this weekend.

But seriously, if Kovalev even lets it get the distance I'd have overrated him. He should easily be able to dismiss the old man and only a huge spoiling act, fouling, biased referee and/or judges can make B-Hop the winner at the 8th.
Make no mistake, if Hopkins gets the chance to do his act against Kovalev, then Kovalev has failed and I would be dissapointed even if he wins anyway.

Cause be real here, if you'd replace Hopkins with any other fighter with the exact same record over the last 5 years, same results and way of fighting, nobody would give him a snowball's chance in hell against Kova.
But it's B-Hop, and you never know with the Alien.

Write me down for the opposite. If B-Hop wins in a legit way I would gladly eat my crow, I think current B-Hop is the one vastly overrated around here. Would you do the same?

 

I won't. I still think Kovalev will be the best LHW out there outside BHops even if he loses - BHops is f'kin unnatural anyway.

The only other guy I see as being a major threat to Sergei is Artur Beterbiev - though of course Stevenson would also have a punchers chance.

 

Hopkins appears to be counting on his personal referee to allow him to headbutt, elbow, kick, fall down on the canvas and try for a disqualification like he did against Dawson. Hopkins will also own the judges, boxing commission, etc., but will that keep him from getting his arse kicked? Hopkins will fight dirty as usual and get by with it, he appears to be counting on it..................

Bhop one of my favorite fighters for 20 years. That was too much punishment. Not writing him off. Its just time to hang up the gloves. This is the first time i saw him look like a old man. Love ya Bhop dont want you to be a vegetable. your health aint worth the fame the fans the money.

I thought Kovalev needed more than just power to beat Hopkins. He showed some patience and skills in there tonight. Was Kovalev impressive considering Hopkins is 50. NAH! He won mostly because Bhop is old.

 

How could anyone who follows this sport not see that Hopkins is almost 50-years-old, has not scored a knock out in 10-years and is up against a heavy handed undefeated champion? Anyone without bias should have easily predicted that Kovalev would win. Impressive that Hopkins went the distance. Something no fighter has ever done to Kovalev so far...

 

The bookies probably made a nice bit of cash tonight, on wild hopkins bets.
