Two-way jab clinics/fencing duels.

That is an eighteen year old DLH (already 203-4 as of when he fought Dezi Ford - that's a 98% victory margin!!!) already boasting a pro-ready jab and building off it to solve the puzzle of a seasoned and very good amateur, though later a dud pro, in Ford...a pro-ready jab which he then mostly squandered as he changed his identity between the ropes in perhaps a misguided attempt to connect to & bolster his profile with the Mexican fan base. :think



It probably is no coincidence that Oscar drifted further away from his jab and his more than acceptably pro-suitable amateur style, the less he was minding the advice of his original coach Robert Alcazar, who led him to championship success only to be unceremoniously dumped as DLH stood on the doorstep to superstardom.

 

Dezi for his part actually put up a good fight against the young phenomenon and ironically, did his best work off the jab, which he touched Oscar with regularly whenever he moved to his left and tripled up on it...but much like Oscar would by and large do by the decade's end (and continue doing even in the middle of individual fights right until his twilight in The World Awaits), he dispensed with the jab and went hell bent for leather with those wild bowling-ball shots, not only missing but ruining his own balance and leaving himself wide open for DLH to hit.

 

Prettiest or most effective, maybe - just doesn't employ it enough.

 

Um...he threw more, definitely. Also, like I said, Mayweather isn't really what you'd consider a jabber first and foremost.

Both could jab very well, but on that night Ray's was the one that shone, while El Radar leaned heavily on his right hand lead.

Or were you citing this as being exemplary of someone who doesn't usually live by the jab beating someone who does at their own game? I'm not sure about that.
