"Glass chin" is filed under "stupid **** forum guys who have never been in a fight type".

When Wlad was young he was a big reckless offensive fighter and panicked when he got hit. Most of you have gone through puberty and maybe seen your first gray hair since then. He learned and became a defensive maestro but then he became boring, so he just can't win in the eyes of people who don't look like him (US boxing fans).

    Im surprised people overlook this.
Lewis was deducted a point for it vs Tyson.

But Wladmir has made it into a career habit.

He would not get away with that anywhere else.

And yet people who DO look like him, cant see his faults. His faults which include excessive hugging and clinching.

Sure I see his faults and he clinches a lot nowadays but nothing on Hopkins level where every single punch is just a feign followed by a clinch/flat out running at people from across the ring just to clinch with them.

Wlad also has one of the highest KO ratios in boxing and a long highlight real but butthurt people still try to pretend every fight of his career looked like the Povetkin fight.

I like him and was outraged during and after his Povetkin fight. That's just like saying all Ali's fans refuse to see his faults.

Difference is Hopkins is 50 years old, Wladmir has a huge size advantage over his opponents which Hopkins doesnt.

That's because he jabs and holds for 12 rounds now.

With Ali, yes there was the clinching, pulling the neck etc etc, but there was alot of great stuff to go alongside that.

With Wladmir, its majority clinching and some quality work.

John Ruiz was a mediocre heavyweight, with hardly any fans.

Wlad would be more under the spotlight seeing as he is this eras best fighter.

I recommend you watch 10+ Ali fights all the way through instead of just watching highlights of his 2 most famous matches.

If everyone did this their perspective would transform dramatically.

People who are new to boxing watch a modern fighter like Wlad and get "bored" waiting for the KO, then they watch highlights or the best fight of a historical boxer and fantasize about how things were back then. I always tell new fans to watch ENTIRE CAREERS from back in the day so they can see how boring most of it was.

Its a bogus reign. Achieved by fighting in Europe only and bending every rule to his favour against under matched and weak opponents.

    It won't wont be remembered.

Where else would he fight? Europe has by far head and shoulders the best HWs, biggest HW crowds, highest pay.

You want the world champion to fight unranked American bums on Al Haymon undercards for peanuts? Get in touch with reality.

Even a dud mandatory like Leapai would be top ranked in the US, possibly champ, it's that bad.

Here's the thing about American boxers: They were really really good when they were fighting other Americans in America. After that they became also-rans and it's time to let go.

In all of boxing, across all weight divisions, Americans have 3 fighters who can be called "top" and the rest are either journeymen or shaky prospects. You cannot ask a fighter who will be on ATG lists like Wlad to fight in a country where the only guys with a resume worthy of fighting him are at 147 & 168 lbs.

What reputation does Ruiz have?? NONE. And neither does Wlad.

You walked into that one head first:patsch

And still, Ruiz fought better than Wlad ever did. He wasn't afraid to them them go on the inside.
