Based on numerous title defences over average fighters in a really weak divison?

Of course, Monzon is at the top...and your list makes a lot of sense. I would just tweak it a bit, as follows:

    1. Carlos Monzon
    2. Nicolino Locche
    3. Victor Galindez
    4. Pasqual Perez
    5. Sergio Martinez
    6. Julio Cesar Vasquez
    7. Santos Benigno Laciar
    8. Jorge Ahumada
    9. Omar Andres Narvaez
    10.Sergio Victor Palma

Accavallo has far better scalps to his name than Narvaez. Fought in an incredible era for his division and a division with much more historical relevance and depth.

This list could easily move towards a top 20 - 25. A couple of fighters have been mentioned that really shouldn't be there. Gilberto Roman was Mexican not Argentine and Federico Thompson, who made his name in Argentina was actually Panamanian. He turned pro and won and lost the Panamanian lightweight title before moving to the Argentine. I guess it's like Cerdan and Fitzsimmons as in where do you say they're from?

Anyways, to add to this expanding list I would also throw in

    Carlos Gimenez
    Gustavo Ballas
    Alfredo Cabral
    Rocky Rivero
    Jorge Fernandez
    Vicente Derado
    Jose Gatica

It was mentioned in comment #9. Maybe the poster remembered the fights between he and Laciar and got them mixed up.

Truth is Flea,...my lists, after the top two or three,...are ****...Lists are not my thing,...especially lists made early in the morning:D.
Truth is, both Lausse and Avocado should have been ahead of Martinez...and I'll revise that in honor of you Flea...in deference to being properly corrected on that matter.....but..., I'll stand by Galindez at 3. I think he had a more than distinguished title reign.....and I don't know that much about Perez:D....nevertheless i liked Galindez...I was a fan. Just be thankful that I didn't list another perennial favorite,...namely Hugo Corro.:smoke

    Here it is...the revised list:
    1. Carlos Monzon
    2. Nicolino Locche
    3. Victor Galindez
    4. Pasqual Perez
    5. Eduardo Lausse
    6. Horacio Accavallo
    7. Santos Benigno Laciar
    8. Julio Cesar Vasquez
    9. Omar Andres Narvaez
    10.Sergio Martinez
Thanks for the observations Flea! I still suck as a list maker..that is, if it's top 10, it tends to suck past #3.
