Is anyone else impressed with Kovalev's boxing skills?

You have to be. Thar was a perfectly executed gameplan. 50 or not Bhop didn't look bad because of age, Kovalev was excellent.

 

He didn't deviate from that jab to the body. He can fight on the biggest stage and stick to a game plan.

People can finally see that they were dead wrong about Sergey Kovalev. I didn't know what the outcome of this fight would be, but I knew Kovalev was much, much better than people realized he was.

Seeing all those comparisons to Kelly Pavlik literally appalled me. Kovalev could run through any version of him OR outbox him for a 12 round shutout.

 

Not shocking to fans of Kovalev.

I was definitely impressed by Kovalev tonight. I think he showed a 2 things. One that he can fight intelligently and with a great game plan. Two he fought a style that is not common and that is counter the counter puncher with distance and patience. So yes, I was definitely impressed.

 

After, he slaughtered that Austrailian dude, Kellerman asked Kovalov how he would beat Hopkins. He replied, "simple Max, by boxing him", and that is exactly what he did. Wow, Kovalov is an awesome boxer with two-fisted punching power. What a career he has ahead of him.

 

Bhop has beaten everybody at 175 worth a dam except kovalev dawson &stevenson & I guarantee you he gives stevenson trouble & possibly even beats him.

 

Most idiots here don't know ****. I was telling everyone that he would beat BHOP and he was more than just a puncher. He has over 200 amateur fights. He is a scary combination of skill and power.

 

50 year old B-Hop would give you plus 10 of your clones a beatdown.

 

Kovalev blew my mind. I thought he was just another guy who could punch really hard, but he actually boxed one of the best and came out with the UD.

 

I'd also like to add that this guys timing is impeccable, some of the best I've seen in a fighter who isn't a counter puncher.

 

I was aware Kovalev could box but was highly impressed with his discipline and gameplan. Hopkins tasted his power early and went into a shell. Kovalev could of became overly aggressive by that tactic but didn't. Stayed patient. Fought smart. Put on a master class.
