I'm not a fan of his but you can't deny that he's a solid fighter.

hes more than solid, that's inclusive to my argument.

I am a fan of KO4clev, and I cant accept hes something bhop has never faced before. bhop has faced all sorts, and to say he hasn't faced such a challenge in a 30 year career is an outright lie (by none other than that foremanjab guy again).

ko4clev is currently in my top three current fighters in terms of fanboyism, ever since dispatching that quivering welsh rabbit.

Prime Hopkins was MW.extremely hard match at any point of Hopkins career.

I'm a big Hopkins nuthugger, but all the respect to Kovalev.he showed that he is the real deal, and definetly one of the best fighters currently.top5 P4P.

It takes special skills to shutout Hopkins completely.before this night Hopkins has only lost clearly 2times.but in both fights he was still competitive.has been whole his career.

Tonight it was blowout.Hopkins looked like he didn't even belonged in the ring with Kovalev.

Kovalev is clearly special talent.yes,Hopkins is not in his prime anymore, but is still one of the best fighters in world.

Ah - right. I had been looking for this information, so Kovalev was bigger last night, some folk had said they thought so but I wasn't sure myself.

Yeah 188 is (as you list) bigger than Kovalev has fought to date. I'd kinda thought he was more likely to come in lighter to maintain his speed, but I can see packing on a little extra bulk wouldn't hurt if it turned a bit roughhouse and Kovalev had to deal with Hopkins trying to physically impose himself with clinches and inside mauling.

Can't be sure how a prime BHops would have handled him - we don't know yet just how good Kovalev is - he boxed hell outta the same BHops that has been able to take most of Kovalevs peers back to boxing 101.

Regardless - TBH as many pointed out prior to the fight, Hopkins' 175 resume is very solid and consistent, but he wouldn't be close to the ATG he is if you just looked at his career as a LHW.

Kovalev vs prime / late MW Hopkins (who could easily have fought at LHW - apparently he delayed the move for a coupla years)? Hell, we'll never know. Woulda been a fight worth watching though.:bbb

I kind of felt that too watching the fight ,even Hopkins from a few years ago just, I thought he was moving poorly far less sharp than he was against pavlik , and to be honest I don't know if kovalev was out of third gear the whole fight Hopkins had no offensive for him to worry about . That said this is all opinion kovalev is serious fighter

Of course B-Hop wins inhis prime. In a rematch I would still give him a shot at beating kolvave.

That's a more interesting question would you favor Kovalev over prime Pascal, Dawson and Tarver? On current evidence I'd say yes.

Can't give enough credit to Nard for making the fight, he just ran into the wrong fighter at this stage if his career. We'll never know how a younger Hopkins would of done.

Cruiserweight?! Kovalev is a small light heavyweight. He is just a lanky guy.

kovalev is good i give him that and he has great ko power which i love but he couldn't stop a 49 year old man knocking him down only once. if he could dominate stevenson and or ward i would concede his greatness for sure.

He did look a little thicker than before. Judging by those weights, it looks like he's steadily getting bigger.

I think he'd beat them all.

Pascal fights in spurts and is too easy to hit to go the distance.

Tarver is very static and Kovalev showed he was agile enough to box circles around Tarver. Tarver at his best who didn't just sit back an counter all night would be a good opponent but he was so inconsistent he'd lose on points.

Dawson is the toughest of the three. Fast, southpaw but not the greatest chin and also inconsistent. I'd favour Kovalev to KO him, too much pressure.
