Americans boxers will always be at or near the top of the sport. Consider it's population and support infrastructure combined with promoters and TV networks looking for domestic talent to drive the bus and it would be shortsighted to think otherwise.

you missed out the most important aspect which is desire/hunger.

A guy whos got no other alternative income, will train and fight harder than a guy whose got a nice car and bank account and money to fall back on.

Its pretty crazy to me that from heavyweight down to middleweight, boxings 5 heaviest divisions, youd only find one weight where an american is ruling it. I wonder if this is the first time thats happened.

So what? Train as hard as you want that does not mean the promoters will sign you and the judges or refs will treat you fairly. I bet Kotelnik trained real hard for Devon Alexander and look where that got him. Same with Karmazin when he fought Spinks in St Louis. Provodnikov has been screwed over in all his losses, costing him millions of dollars.

Despite all the "hunger and desire" the ex-Soviet fighters have, they still only have a handful of champions.

People are getting carried away a bit.

Yeah, and 2 guys hold about 8 of them.

And thats also including GGG, who while from a former soviet country, isnt really European by most definitions.

Im just saying this "domination" is way over blown

kazakhstan is a trans-continental country so it has every right to be considered european

which two champions hold 8 between them?

It also has every right to eb considered Asian, that why GGG has Asian Amateur titles and not European ones.

Well what titles are you including?

Wlad has the WBA,WBO,IBF and IBO titles (And Ring title)
Kovalev has WBA,IBF and WBO so thats 7 and a Ring title...which is "about 8"

    Depends on what you count

trans-continental mate can be considered both asian and european so his titles can count towards the european total

wasn't counting the ibo and ring titles there bs

    i did count abraham(Armanian) and Huck(Serbian)

Once you start getting into what nationalities some of these guys asre, its a rat hole or pointless arguments

Theres dozens top ranked fighters out there you could count as from2 different countries.

    Chisora
    Santa Cruz
    Andy Lee
    Sakio Bika
    Darcinyan
    Martisoyan
    Kid Galahad
    Andy Ruiz
    Donaire
And pretty much every "German" fighter.
    etc

well considering they were all born in eastern europe and Half of germany used to be in eastern europe too then i think its reasonable to consdier them eastern european

as for the rest of the lads il tell you what nationality i consider them

    chisora- Zimbabwian
    Santa Cruz - Mexican
    Sakio Bika - Cameroonian
    Darcinyan - Armanian
Martirosyan - American but thats a tough one
    Galahad - English
    Ruiz - Mexican
    Donaire - Filipino

this isn't as much nationality though as half of germany was behind the iron curtain anyway its fair to include them
