Ok fellas here's the deal. I've started a small boxing club in my garage. I have a few guys that come but I'm ready to take it to the next level. I invite people and even though we have a coach and good equipment it still just looks like a couple buddies getting together for a workout. My though is if we get these guys to fight people may take us more serious. Question is what do I do next? How do I make my club official? Thanks in advance
Step one to get people to take you more seriously....don't start a f#cking gym, or really ANYTHING from out your damn garage other than a f#cking lemonade stand......****....da f#ck is wrong with people.....
In the UK the coaches would all have to have CRB checks so they can work with kids.the club would have to be AIBA affiliated too. Any head guards, wraps, gloves have to have AIBA stamps and the gloves aren't cheap which you'll have to supply if you have your own amateur show Good luck anyway
I don't know if that's possible without being in an affiliated club.the boxers would have to pass medicals too, to get a medical card.
You will need to apply to England Boxing to register you club. Contact your regional secretary for the information booklet. There is a long list of criteria that needs to be met and a representative from your region will have to visit your gym to check everything out. For starters you will need a qualified coach (so talk to your region about getting your coach on the next level one course). I could be wrong but, I think you need to have at least a level 2 coach to run a gym. You definitely need a level 2 coach to supervise sparring. Lots of regulations to be met such as fire exits, separate male / female changing rooms, toilets, equipment, space, not with in 1 mile of another club, need for a child welfare officer etc. It won't be cheap either. Affiliation costs, coaching course costs, registering coaches, medicals, registering boxers etc. Also, you would have to allow members of the public to come - you couldn't register your club just for you and the mates. Good luck.
It seems you think it's as simple as find a place, purchase some equipment then sign a few papers and you're open for business. Not that simple, mate. When you're doing activities affecting people's health (particularly children/teenagers) you have a lot of criteria to meet. There's more to add to this list. Be sure it's something you really want to do and can afford before you proceed on this.
i think everything has near enough bin covered. its really not as simple as what you seem to believe it is otherwise every random mush who thought they could run a gym would be opening one and it would just be chaos and there would be people getting hurt everywhere. remember, you play football, you play basketball, and you play rugby but you dont play boxing. good luck and all the best in your venture.
If you are aiming to open up as an amateur boxing gym in the UK then you need actual premises. The most basic criteria for an ABA club is 10 punchbags which won't fit in a garage, plus many others that you can't accommodate. oiky - any idiot can open a gym and call themselves a boxing trainer - unlicensed boxing is massive in the UK right now.
