Look hopkins said kovalev would be easier than pavlik

He thought that Kovalev has a weak chin and that he will gass because he never did 12 rounds before. Hopkins was sure that his experience will defeat Kovalev.
After the first KD in round one he knew that it was a mistake to take this fight. In the later round Hopkins switched to survival mode because he knew he can not win. It was just a suprise, he never expected that.

 

I knew BHop wasn't going to win. Kovalev, I believe, has always fought at 175 and is an extremely hard puncher with good skills and tough mentally. I think he has underrated speed as well.

I thought Pavlik was going to beat Hopkins decisively, but Bernard proved me wrong. However, I always thought that Hopkins had the advantage since he was accustomed to fighting at 175 and could easily drop 5 pounds. Where Kelly had to gain 10 pounds.

 

Bro, give him a break. He is a 50-year old overblown middleweight for crying out loud. He should have been out of there by the fourth round.

I think Hopkins old age forgot he fought Pavlik SIX YEARS AGO. Can't believe Kovalev fans are actually making a big deal of Kovalev beating a FIFTY year old Hopkins. Heck Danny Garcia dominated Morales 2X at 40.

That's what am saying, but if people (or other boxers) keep enabling him, he is going to continue to fight. It says more about how weak division the division is that a 50 year old man can still be competitive. lol

 

Bernard Hopkins is not your normal 50 yr old man. Kudos to Sergey he dominated the fight . You have to give kudos to Hopkins too for taking on Kovalev & lasting the full 12 rounds against such a fearsome puncher

 

He was in survival mode throughout the fight and anytime Hopkins opened up he was hurt.

So he was an undefeated big puncher, and fought B-Hop too but that's where every comparison ends. He was no LHW, he didn't have the same style, people know about his alcohol abuse and he was dragged up 2 weightclasses.
