think he'd make a good commentator on a full time basis, if he can't get a fight against Andy Lee, think he should retire and move into this.
He's one of the most exciting fighters of recent years but just short of world champion class. Too many wars have taken there toll.fighters can't have wars one after the other like he does. He should jack in. a promoter showing a lack of class, how odd ??????
Yes well said, he has been through the mill and boxing takes no prisoners in the long run, all the hard fights have taken there toll. He should retire with his head held high because most people in boxing do not reach the level of Macklin. Good luck Matt
He has been in so many wars the body can only withstand so much punishment. Up to him regarding his future but to rebuild again after a loss like that is going to take time and a different style of fighting that isn't in his locker.
the training camp in spain isent doing verry good they all lost and shamus looks like smelly old tramp needs haircut and shave don't think they will all be rushing over to Marbella now
He didn't say straight out that he IS going to retire, which is a bit worrying to me. The ONLY possible fight that MIGHT justify him having one more would be Andy Lee, who also ought to retire IMO.
Im not so sure he would have. Definitely not easily. He's been a good fighter, but not world championship material for me. He fought the fight of his life against Sturm, earned probably a draw. And I think Lamar Russ was his best win. But in general should retire and concentrate on handling boxers. That won't have done him any good in this fight either.
Time to knock it on the head. No where near the standard he was before. It was clear that he was up against it after 3 rounds I was sitting there saying this is going to end badly for him. Trying to win rounds doing little or nothing. Glad he got stopped to be honest as I was thinking if he would of survived it we could of seen a robbery on our hands and Macklin winning in a home town decision. Has done well but time to call it a day I think.
Damn.. It is tough fuken sport. It looked me that Heiland was just too young, fresh and more hungry fighter. Macklin has gone through many tough wars. Macklin is tough guy, he was always exciting fighter to watch and has had good career!
Where do you get this idea from? The cards were exposed every 4 rounds...and the scoring was clearly not going Macklins way....:huh
