    Hello,
I was just looking for some suggestions. I recently started training and boxing again at the age of 27. I have been away for about four years. I used to be able to put my body through complete hell almost everyday, but as i have gotten older it seems my recovery time is a little longer. Does anyone have any suggestions on helping speed up recovery time again. I really don't want to change the way i train. Thanks

WTF. I thought you were going to say you were 40 something, 27 is **** all.

As with anyone else - eat enough and get plenty of rest.

At 27, age isn't really a factor. It's more about your general fitness and training techniques. You are still more than capable of having greater fitness / recovery than when you were younger. So i would definitely attribute the longer recovery time to the fact that you're not in as-good shape as you were before.

Tips on speeding up recovery - honestly, it's nothing you haven't heard before.
As Virus suggests, sleep and diet are big. Static stretching after workouts.
And maybe don't push it too hard off the bat. Work it up gradually.

Honestly, attributing it to age is nothing more than an excuse. Get out of that mindset.
Because excuses (even if you're not physically saying it...but rather mentally thinking it) will hurt your training that much more. Cause and effect. Think positive. Age is not a factor for you, not even 10 years from now.

I really appreciate the input. I do know that i am not in as good of shape as i was. It's getting there. I know age is no factor, especially with guys fighting well into their 40s. I do know that the work ethic hasn't gone anywhere, maybe it's just getting used to the entire lifestyle again. I just couldn't stay away, i missed it too much

    Here is the difference:

Balancing a stressful job with a family.

If that does not apply, there is no difference.
