who do people think is the better fighter between cleverly and bellew

Cleverly is the better fighter, but I think Belly is going to win at CW by late stoppage.

 

Bellew is a bit annoying but he looks the better CW.

At this level, and neither are world level.

Just to be clear at world level neither made it half way when it came down to it.

 

I just re-watched their 1st fight this afternoon and forgot how good a fight it actually was.

It's clear Cleverly is the better boxer - we just have to see how the new weight affects things. Still Clev on points again for me.

Both very average but Clev shades it for me. Hope he does a number on him too.

 

If Cleverly boxes like he did in round 1 of that first fight, he can pick Bellew apart and finish him late.

Box like he did in the second round, showing his bravado and standing there letting Bellew club him round the head and gloves and it could go the opposite way.

He needs to focus on making Bellew miss early on, not proving he can stand in punching range. That is the key to beating Bellew at this weight because I don't think Bellew can handle a pace for the distance at cruiser.

 

One more thing about Cleverly which could be a big factor in this fight is that when he gets hit, he instinctively comes forward, to his own detriment. He loses his gameplan completely, all head movement and lateral moving goes out the window while he gets right back in range huffing and puffing trying to prove he wasn't hurt by the shot. That's not bravery it's naivety; lack of focus. It's something I hope he's lost. He should have had it drummed out of him by Kovalev tbh.

His trainers really need to get that message home to him in and out of the gym and tell the lad he needs to show maturity and focus now at his age and leave all that egotistical sh!t behind him.

I was surprised he ddnt win their first encounter more convincingly to be honest.

Tony for me, I think Clev is a bit more technically gifted but Bellews fire more than compensates. Clev showed a major weakness when he thought of quitting last year and raises questions on his heart whereas if that was Tony who fought Kovalev he would move mountains to get a rematch.

It's like that whole thing is being swept under the rug and forgotton about but he was still KO'd by him.

 

Losing does have an affect on fighters he was obviously very disappointed, but let's remember the heart your talking about when it actually matters - in the ring - was well and truly shown by coming out for the next round after being smashed all over the place by Kovalev.

 

Both look in good shape at the weigh in.

Bellew takes this for me by knockout.

But only after Cleverly tags him hard early on.
