Main fight aside, does anyone see anyone not British actually losing? I enjoy watching all of the fighters on the card, but it is a little upsetting to only feel like there's one 50-50 fight. Periban is pretty handy, but that's probably the closest to it (as discussed in another thread). Anyone else agree\disagree?
I agree , won't be watchng it, I have to stick to my principles. It is a poor card in my opinion and if nobody disagrees and is willing to give me odds of evens on any of the home fighters I'll take it.
It's a poor undercard in terms of close fights, I'll grant you that. Still, a lot of quality boxers on show.
Some great quality on show but in my opinion that it what it is, a showcase, it is not PPV worthy so I will not watch it. I even bought Haye Vs Harrison, I know, I still feel embarrassed but I will not be buying this under any circumstance.
i think the whole card is just ridicolous nothing really jumps out at me and says you must watch this fight. even cleverly vs. bellew as good a fight as it is is being ridicolously over marketed in my opinion and is making me less and less interested, i think someone mentioned it before but a tactics show for that fight? i mean come on what ever is that about. AJ's fight is liable to be more of the same, nothing scott quigg has done so far in hes career has made me think "oh quiggs fighting tonight, must watch that", mcdonnell never really impresses me, got nothing against him he just never impressess me, george groves will be tired by round6, degale is not bad, i'd say out of the whole card i'm most excited to watch bradley saunders but he will probably be against a total sop so can't see sparks flying imo. mediocre card at a ridicolous price, i fully understand boxing is a business, but theres certain standard cards need to meet to be ppv worth and this is NOT it.. if carlsberg did boxing cards.... it would certainly not be this one. november still hasn't failed though, with bad blood coming up
I just don't understand why people in the UK are complaining about paying approx $25 for a event with 2 world title fights,Joshua,Groves,Degale and a bunch of other English headliners for a total of 7 fights when I will be paying $60 to catch Pacmans blowout and just 3 other fights. It appears to be pretty good value in my opinion,despite being primarily a Euro level card-but with big names.
I wouldn't rule out a callum smith loss, a lot of decent fighters have looked decent against cans for 15 or so fights, but lose as soon as they step up, was hoping his opponents odds were further out than 13/2, mcdonnels press conference looked a bit weird, don't think I've seen a height difference like that since haye fought valuev
If they were 2 genuine world title fights then people's opinions might have been different, that and slightly better opposition in these 'world' title fights.
I think degale has a tough fight. McDonnell should be a W Joshua and smith have decent fights but for them it's more about how they win and how they look conpared to other people who have fm fought their opponents. The quigg fight intrigues me. His opponent is relatively ubknown but he is hickey ranked. Could be good early on. George groves is kind of a token fight. Just a big name with an easy W Overall it's a decent card. We will see some great british talent but I think all our guys will win.
I think that Periban and Sjekloca are very tough opponents for Degale and Smith. I think Degale will win that one and despite me thinking that Smith is a world class prospect I am not sure about the Sjekloca fight. Cleverly vs Bellew will be a ******* and I am hoping the same for the Smith and Degale fights. I think Quigg will have an easy nights work, same for Joshua and Groves but I think the McDonnell fight will be a comfortable win but a very entertaining fight none the less.
